Aqua Data Studio ReviewSolid - Version: 6.5.0, 11/20/2007 08:02AM PST

I've been using the various iterations of this product for a while now and am very happy with it. I only use it to access, query and edit a MS SQL database, and it has all the tools that I need to run queries, create and edit existing tables, queries and stored procedures. The 'Javaness' of it is a little disconcerting at first, but I got used to it... it just works, which of course is the final test. As an aside, I use it only from a remote workstation over VPN to our data server on our office network.

Aqua Data Studio CommentaryApparently incompatible with Mac OS X 10.3.9 and Java 1.4.2 - Version: 4.7.2, 9/18/2006 08:18PM PST

As a web developer coming from a design background I was excited to find a Mac app for building MSSQL queries. However I was disappointed to find that Aqua Data Studio is not compatible with Mac OS X 10.2+ and Java 1.4.2 as stated. Upon launch an alert box informs me that Java 1.5 is required and it is apparently only available for Mac OS X 10.4. The latest Java Update for Mac OS X 10.3.9 doesn't help.

This is quite a robust application. It does not "feel" quite right, but the functionality is really mature. I sure hope to see more development on this and some refinements in the interface. Very good choice.
