WizardlingAnyway, after trying FTP Client out I like it a lot. It's fast, stable and does exactly what I want with a minimum of fuss. If I can get answers to the above I'll be definitely considering it in my next round of shareware purchases.
Actually, that raises one negative point - FTP Client isn't really shareware, more demo crippleware (not that the developer tries to pass it off any different, mind you):-( I'd be more inclined to pay for FTP Client instead of, say, the new Transmit (which is also very nice) if I had had more than seven days unlimited testing. The sweet spot IMHO is more like 30 days - 14 at the minimum. Seven is _way_ to short - so brief it annoys me, and puts me off the product. Frankly I'm highly inclined to buy proper shareware rather than severely time limited demo software. Just my opinion, though.
Some useful looking features such as synchronization. And the user can decide what double click will do (nothing, edit or download). But I see no obvious way to make sftp the default connection type.
