Adobe Camera Raw Troubleshooting ReportHow do I install this? - Version: 5.4, 6/24/2009 03:30AM PST

For previous versions, I just put the Camera Raw plug-in into the Plug-ins/FileFormats file of PhotoShop Elements 6 and Adobe Bridge CS. However, this latest updater requires me to run a Setup.app which then refuses to proceed because I don't have "Adobe Camera Raw" installed! What's going on here?

From the Adobe web site
The Camera Raw 5.1 plug-in is not compatible with versions of Photoshop earlier than Photoshop CS4 or versions of Photoshop Elements earlier than Photoshop Elements 6.0.

Adobe Camera Raw Commentary4.5 won't work with my NEF XMP metadata - Version: 4.5, 8/4/2008 09:21AM PST

coaster--2008
I shoot thousands of RAW images and I use Bridge quite frequently to add keywords and © metadata to my RAW NEF files shot with Nikon D300. I recently updated Camera Raw and DNG Converter from 4.4.1 to 4.5 and can no longer add keywords. I get error message that "the file cannot store XMP metadata. No changes will occur." Sometimes the © information can not be added. Also when I select an image in Bridge I can no longer open the RAW file with Camera Raw (Command R), it's grayed out in the File menu. I have to launch PS CS3 Extended to open Camera Raw, not what I always want to do. The command should not be grayed out at all. 4.4.1 worked quite well. I replaced 4.4.1, but still have the problems and can't get the bugs out of my system caused by the new 4.5 versions. I can't reach Adobe tech support without paying $39. I can't just send an email asking a simple question — how do I get it to work again with either 4.4.1 or 4.5? I've used PS & Illustrator since version 1, and feel like Adobe product quality gets worse with each new upgrade.

Adobe Camera Raw Commentary4.3.1 Does not work in PS Elements in Panther - Version: 4.3.1, 12/29/2007 12:59AM PST

gslusher
Despite what Adobe says, version 4.3.1 does not work in Photoshop Elements 4.0.1 in OS 10.3.9. It may work in Tiger--I cannot tell. There are several discussions in the Adobe user forums about this. Get and use version 4.1, instead. It will not work with all cameras, however.
