Product Description:

The Photoshop Camera Raw plug-in delivers lightning-fast, easy access - within Photoshop - to "raw" image formats in professional and mid-range digital cameras from Canon, Fujifilm, Minolta, Nikon and Olympus. Available as a software add-on that works with Photoshop CS3 or Photoshop Elements 4.0.1 software, the Photoshop Camera Raw plug-in allows photographers to directly manipulate the original data captured by a digital camera sensor, producing images with superior tonal range and the maximum amount of detail.

What's new in this version:

Support for the following cameras has been added. Visit the Camera Raw page for a complete list of supported cameras.
  • Olympus E 420
  • Olympus E 520

Operating System Requirements:

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

  • Mac OS X 10.5 Intel
  • Mac OS X 10.5 PPC
  • Mac OS X 10.4 Intel
  • Mac OS X 10.4 PPC
  • Mac OS X 10.3.9
  • Mac OS X 10.3

Additional Requirements:

  • The Camera Raw 4.0 plug-in is not compatible with versions of Photoshop earlier than Photoshop CS3 or versions of Photoshop Elements earlier than Photoshop Elements 4.01 for Macintosh. The Camera Raw 4.0 plug-in requires Photoshop Elements 4.01 on Mac in order to load successfully. Installing the Camera Raw 4.0 plug-in for use with Photoshop Elements 4.01 on Mac will prevent Photoshop CS2 from accessing the Camera Raw plug-in on the same computer.

Adobe DNG Converter & Camera Raw Commentary4.5 won't work with my NEF XMP metadata - Version: 4.5, 8/4/2008 09:21AM PST

coaster--2008
I shoot thousands of RAW images and I use Bridge quite frequently to add keywords and © metadata to my RAW NEF files shot with Nikon D300. I recently updated Camera Raw and DNG Converter from 4.4.1 to 4.5 and can no longer add keywords. I get error message that "the file cannot store XMP metadata. No changes will occur." Sometimes the © information can not be added. Also when I select an image in Bridge I can no longer open the RAW file with Camera Raw (Command R), it's grayed out in the File menu. I have to launch PS CS3 Extended to open Camera Raw, not what I always want to do. The command should not be grayed out at all. 4.4.1 worked quite well. I replaced 4.4.1, but still have the problems and can't get the bugs out of my system caused by the new 4.5 versions. I can't reach Adobe tech support without paying $39. I can't just send an email asking a simple question — how do I get it to work again with either 4.4.1 or 4.5? I've used PS & Illustrator since version 1, and feel like Adobe product quality gets worse with each new upgrade.

Adobe DNG Converter & Camera Raw Commentary4.3.1 Does not work in PS Elements in Panther - Version: 4.3.1, 12/29/2007 12:59AM PST

Despite what Adobe says, version 4.3.1 does not work in Photoshop Elements 4.0.1 in OS 10.3.9. It may work in Tiger--I cannot tell. There are several discussions in the Adobe user forums about this. Get and use version 4.1, instead. It will not work with all cameras, however.
