Product Description:

IPNetSentryX is a simple and intelligent security application which protects your Mac from outside intruders. Unlike most other Internet security products, IPNetSentryX offers basic protection without erecting barriers for the safe use of your Internet connection. There is no need to "punch holes" in a firewall for specific applications you may wish to run. Instead, IPNetSentryX silently and intelligently watches for suspicious behavior, and when triggered, invokes a solid filter which completely bans the potential intruder from your Macintosh. The advantage is you don't need a network expert to configure your firewall or debug compatibility conflicts. Beyond this basic protection, IPNetSentryX offers unprecedented flexibility for specifying what traffic to allow on your network and responding to network events.

What's new in this version:

  • Restructure project files to use Subversion based revision control.
  • Fix Ethernet bridging to configure promiscous mode correctly.
  • Application launch - skip asking for upgrade if there is a valid upgrade key in the pasteboard.
  • Upgrade - ask user to authenticate to remove old key if necessary when upgrading, so upgrade will override any previous key even if not writable by the currently logged in user.
  • System Requirements are now 10.4 or later.
  • Release as version 1.7

If you've got Stealth mode enabled in OS 10.4, why would you need IPNetSentry?
This app is useful for OS 10.3 and below but not needed in Tiger, right? Correct me if I'm wrong.
After all, this app is $60, why spend it if you don't need to.

It says here on Versiontracker that it is $40.00, but on their site it is $60.00. Am I missing something?

This app is a very good tool for detecting unauthorized network behavior. One strength is that it works well with other apps for a layered defense strategy. I have not noticed a temperature increase in my CPU (G4).
