Hasty judgment: the app seems very passive - Version: 0.5, 10/2/2003 12:20PM PST

With VooDooPad, I could tell immeditaley what its nifty features are -- for any highlighted term it alows Apple-L creation of a new page together with automatic link, and it automatically generates familiar html-ish links "on the fly" as the user types the names of existing page titles. Perhaps Personal Wiki has powers I can't see, but it's certainly a plus that VoodooPad makes its functions intuitively clear.
I'm impressed, but…

I would prefer the app to strictly conform to the Wikipedia syntax, and get rid of the StructuredText alternative. Now, Wikipedia syntax is supported partly, not wholly. This application, once it will come to include incremental search (like Notational Velocity.app) and HMTL export (allowing users to produce a complete site from a Wiki file, and synchonize it using rsync, ideally) will be an invaluable tool for publishing your own personal wiki (a new type of weblog) as well as for (open and closed) group efforts. I think the name should change, perhaps: localWiki sounds a little better to me. Finally, keyboard shortcuts and toolbar buttons are needed for switching between editing and browsing mode, and Mac-like commands for applying styles, making links, and so on. Four stars for a very promising alpha release!
