Product Description:

Hotline Connect is a suite of two free applications that enables Internet users to communicate and share files and information.

Hotline Connect enables you to easily create a personal interactive Internet community on your own terms. Interact live with real time chat, conferencing, messaging, data warehousing, file transfer and streaming capabilities - all on your personal computer using Hotline Connect software.

Explore the thousands of online communities with Hotline Connect's Client application. Preview multimedia files, post news and participate in online chats using the simple Hotline Connect Client software.

Share your content, showcase your hobbies, and promote your ideas with Hotline Connect's unique Server application. Using the small and powerful Hotline Connect Server you can open your computer to anyone you choose, remain in a secure environment and control your community at all times.

What's new in this version:

CLIENT

Logs of chat and private messages
Users can toggle on and off, and the logs are stored in xml format.
Expanded View options
When a file is previewed, 1.9 will open it with the appropriate application.
A button to open the download folder
A very convenient time-saver that allows users to dispense with shortcuts and aliases.
Important bug fixes
Including the 27 character Mac file bug, the illegal character Windows file bug and the invisible client bug.
Context specific help
Dedicated buttons on each window link to online help, making it easier to get information on specific tasks, and vastly reducing the size of the Client download file.
Security Upgrades Include: Disabling of most "F12 secret" functions
A proliferation of undocumented easter eggs and special functions created potential security problems for community administrators. Custom icon capability is preserved.

SERVER

A new Message board Service
Flat News in addition to existing threaded News.
Ban by IP-range
A very useful feature for community administrators. This feature will enable much more effective enforcement of server rules.
Important bug fixes and server exploit fixes
Hotline Server 1.9 fixes the invisible user bug, which allowed a user to log in invisibly to the administrator, therefore preventing the admin to remove the user from the server. As well, 1.9 fixes a dangerous exploit that allowed users to crash the server by uploading a folder of a specific type.
