I don't like looking at 3 windows to view your object. I like one window with perspective. I don't think this program offers that option.

This is one good app!
This has a wonderful render engine. I can't recommend it more, easily use it over blender.
It's so easy to use, at a simple level and up to much more advanced levels.

I've tried ALL the main freeware 3D apps, mainly for pleasure and a bit for work. I've even been using it exclusively for a new shareware game. Though a tad slow and buggy at times, its features and design outwiegh its shortcommings. Its a golden title.
Very nice

First of all... you have to appreciate the eccentricity of a Java 3D app! But you also have to appreciate how well done this program is. In terms of features and ease of use, it's probably on par with Meshwork. Art of Illusion is very similar to Infini-D. Its default camera views and toolbar are really intuitive. The program is slow, but this comes with the territory for Java apps.
Impressive

I've used many 3D Programs over the years. From simple programs like Infini-D to complex programs on the SGI like Power Animator. All things considered, this being Java based. Impressive. It's no contender to the big 3D players, but it reminds me of the simplicity of Infini-D with some impressive commercial features such as a pretty good implementation of Boolean modeling. Not bad work. Keep it up.
Quite good. Yet...

There's still some bugs (the two eye tools for moving and rotating perspective disappear when I switch into One View, and don't come back until I exit and reload the file). And some quirks (when designing a texture the window always starts Way off to the left, requiring scrolling all the way to the right to add'n alter properties). Yes it's slow in terms of interface interactions, but that probably won't change. Still, it's my favorite out of all the progs I've tried so far for 3D design and render. Sure a cursory glance won't tell you much, but it's good for newbies (myself) and its more complicated features pack a punch when you're ready for them. If you're curious about 3D apps but have NO FREAKIN' CLUE how to use one, try this app (w/ a tutorial or two).
ps - check out the hourglass tutorial on their website, it helped me learn more (and more quickly) about this program than any tutorial for any app ever has.

Runs fine here..

..on 10.2.6. No additional installations or downloads necessary. Just download the thing, double click the artofillusion.jar and that's that.
Thanks Peter.
Looking forward to trying this out.
