The developer still doesn't get it!
The utility is still in beta. Another way of saying we are the developer's free quality control department (FQCD). Yet they expect to be paid for the software, bugs, shortcomings and all. Until we pay, we do not have access to all of the features. So how the hell can we evaluate it, report bugs, request improvements and do all of the other things that the FQCD is asked/expected to do?
Until I can evaluate all of the features, I will never pay for it. Other software developers know how to sidestep this chicken-and-egg situation, why can't these guys wake up (and sniff the missing revenue stream)?

Floating Clock Issue Linked to Spotlight Use - Version: 1.0rc1, 9/5/2009 12:38PM PST

I am running Mac OSX 10.6 (Snow Leopard) and still am encountering problems. The floating clocks appear as an overlay to the screen displays of different applications. It seems to be linked to the use of Spotlight. For example, if a page in MS Word is displayed on screen and I use Spotlight, a floating clock appears over the Word file display.
...also...

...the settings occasionally change spontaneously. After a computer re-start, it can be that there is no longer a display of date and time. Go to System Prefs/iClock Pro and, if you're lucky, you're faced with the checkbox "All Menus Enabled". Check it but, unless you're lucky, you will get a hyphen and the Time Menu or the Date Menu is not enabled. I went to the Time Menu pane and clicked "enable Time Menu Extra hoping that would fix the non-display problem. It didn't. The tick in the check box would not endure.
The usual fault-finding things like rebuild permissions, re-install the utility, run DiskWarrior, even zapping the pRAM achieves nothing.
This bug was compulsory in beta 19 so, naturally, i confirmed that it is beta 21 that I'm installing.
Also, a recommendation for the developer: When it's working, under the Time Menu is a section for setting alarms. Since this is so important to the utility, I think some extra flexibility would result from inserting option check-boxes in the time Menu pane.

Developer submitting fake reviews?

iClock has had a chequered history. I've had a copy installed for years but it's never worked right. Now, with the Pro version under development, some things have become better, others worse. It is not ready for prime time yet.
It installs ok but some preferences cannot be set. Yet we see glowing reports. I can only conclude that the developer is submitting fake reviews.

iClock Pro does it all

I have been a user of the older iClock for over 5 years with no problems so decided to upgrade. While still in beta, b21 is performing solidly and adds even more useful features than before.
The integration with iCal is very clever and it is easy to control how you want both the date and the time to look in the menu bar each with its own colors and fonts and format, etc.
My one suggestion is to make sure you completely delete the previous version if you too are considering the upgrade. This can only be done by doing a restart after you drag the app to the trash. Short of that, some parts of the program stay loaded so this is important to do.
Compliments on this upgrade and one very feature rich program!
(no I do not work for software vendor)

This small app pleases me sooo much. The only thing I feel inconvenient about the date & time in menubar was that it doesn't show date information. iClock pro does the job nicely and I'm happier than ever.

Fruitful-for-me Beta; Works as if a Full Release

This beta cleared the one glitch I had with earlier betas (needing to re-enable the menu extras after a restart) and I'm delighted with all the new features. iClock has been a must-have for me for a long time and, at least for me, with this beta it's doing all that I want from it.
i had but to read the last four reviews - one fellow's had it installed for *years* and it *still* doesn't work right! - to know i ain't even giving this thing a download. to the developer: get it together or get out. we don't need crap like this cluttering up versiontracker and wasting everybody's time.
