Cocktail CommentaryI already have v3.7.2 - Version: 3.6, 8/16/2006 06:57AM PST

I thought that the changes looked familiar. When I did a get-info on the C o c ktail I have installed, it says v3.7.2. What's up with that?

[Humorous side note: I had to add spaces to the name of the product, because otherwise the preview of this comment displayed it as "*censored*tail". :-) ]

I've found cõcktail to be very useful on a number of occasions. Whenever I get a new machine or am working on someone else's it's an automatic install along with 'Sloth' and 'Applejack'.

Cocktail ReviewNo Problems - Version: 3.6, 8/15/2006 01:45PM PST

sfeld: I've used *censored*tail (watch out for that crazy censor) for three years, on OS X 10.2, 3 and 4 without a single problem. It has an overall rating of 4.4 out of 5; if that's not high enough for you then that's your business. But a few bad reviews out of over 600 hardly suggest a flawed product. As for removing bad reviews, that would not be ethical. The best that can be done is for people who like the product to rate it highly, as I have done. That said, no one could or should try to force you to use something about which you have qualms.

Among similar products of equal stature, only Onyx is rated slightly higher - 4.5 - most likely because it's free rather than because it performs any better.

Although it looks like it might be handy, I have decided not to try this product due to all the conflicting reviews. Get the bad ones removed from here if they're not true and then I'll give it a shot.

Recently, Cocktail was installed onto my OS X and since then it has made accessing one of the accounts impossible. Two out of three accounts are fine, but once sticks on the log in screen when you try to log in. I suspect cocktail caused this and I desperatly need the files from the account, any ideas howto redeem this?

Thanks

Cocktail CommentaryWARNING: Trolls/False info - Version: 3.5.4, 10/3/2005 05:33AM PST

The "problem" they alert about is fixed when Cocktail author was alerted about it. MONTHS AGO

The most unethical developer(s) I have seen for a long time, nicknamed "rixstep" has a problem with this type of shareware timesaver utilities and sends "fans" to distribute FUD about this software.

As Cocktail author does not take them serious for some reason, I can imagine some system newbies or people not knowing how LOW others developers get can take these FAKE COMMENTS serious.

As a versiontracker pro user and cocktail registered user I wanted to alert who (still) takes these comments serious.

Feel free to support my proposition to filter out non plus or pro user comments so we can really start taking this comment feature serious again.

Bought this contraption last week and installed it. The very first night it took my G4 into some form of C++ programming mode that took me over 2 hours to get out of. That is, it quit all applications, screen goes black with no mouse control and the white lettering expects you to figure out what the hell the correct command line request answer is! after dicking around in the directory for acout 2 hours, I finall y figured out that the answer it wanted was "localhost#: answer? logout type return...so if you download this piece of crap and it does this to you just remeber this is how to get your system back before you go in too far and wreck something basic operation in your subsystem. I of course emailed the author the next day with the deatails and I still haven't heard from him. He's got my $30.00, which I don't expect to see again. I can only chalk it up to experience and be happy I didn't do something serious to me best friend, my Mac. cheers all. Be careful.there are monsters under your bed!!!

Cocktail CommentaryPowerbook login failed after changing network settings - Version: 3.5.4, 7/8/2005 03:05PM PST

Installed *censored*tail a few minutes ago, and changed the send/receive buffer size using network settings. Restarted and got spinning ball after entering password. Tried again - same result. Had to power down, restart on backup hard drive, removed all *censored*tail files - then I was able to restart normally. I'm using Mac OS X 10.3.9 on a titanium Powerbook 667 Mhz.
