MP3 Sushi ReviewGreat - Simple-Free - Version: 1.5, 4/18/2005 11:15AM PST

swaters
I've recently set up a little stream for my friends which works fine. While the interface is simple, the functio is complex. Don't expect this free program to do everything perfectly all the time, but for the price the author did an amazing job and deserves a few bucks in donations.

MP3 Sushi ReviewYou must be a dope "Glitschka Studios" if you can't get this simple app to work! - Version: 1.5, 12/28/2004 05:47PM PST

CounterPoint
Only a total twit would have a problem with making MP3 Sushi work. I love it and use it 5 days a week 24 hours a day for a little fusion jazz net-station.

MP3 Sushi ReviewLOOKS NICE BUT DOESN'T WORK! - Version: 1.5, 7/25/2004 09:54PM PST

Glitschka Studios
I first downloaded 'DOT-POD' to do this and that app didn't work. I say Mr. Sushi post which said that MP3 Sushi was better so I download that and after two hours I am giving up. The GUI looks nice but it simply ISN'T as simple as they want you to believe. The app GUI is nice but the UI for the Jukebox is your standard GNU craptacular looking HTML. The jukebox wouldn't work, the radio was extremely confusing and started playing something that I don't even have?

Less hype, fix the bugs and make every part of the experience look good but more importantly make it work! If 'DOT-POD' worked it would put this one to shame both performance wise, simplicity and looks.

MP3 Sushi ReviewError switching frequency - Version: 1.5, 7/22/2004 06:24AM PST

Sarah Baucom
I have been using this for over a month, and I love it. The only problem I have, is it seems to stop when switching between 44KHz and 48KHz songs. It starts again when I restart the stream, but it is a tad annoying. Not sure if this is an iTunes streaming problem or MP3 Sushi problem. Maybe it could convert the 48KHz songs down to 44KHz to avoid this?

Also, a nice feature would be to have it use iTunes playlists as the broadcast list. Currently I have to copy the songs I want to be broadcast, into another folder (since I don't want my entire collection broadcast).

Great program! :-)

I tryed to broadcast over the internet but it didn't work. I opened required ports, even redirected my IP to find my server anywhere but never could connect exceot at my own computer. That's not radio (lol). Jukebox never turned on. I'll try "niceast" now.

MP3 Sushi ReviewOK except for 2 major problems - Version: 1.5, 4/4/2004 03:18PM PST

steeley
Nice idea, however if you use a web browser, whn you click on a file it tries to open the data as text in the browser!
Try and "download linked file to disk" all you get is the file with "html" tacked on the end, so it shows up as a web document. Remove this and you can play the file. fancy doing this for 100+ files? I thought not...
Get MusicPublisher and use iTunes-you'll have a system that works.

MP3 Sushi Usage TipGood, but the underlying tools need help - Version: 1.5, 3/6/2004 05:34AM PST

Kee Hinckley
As a package it works well. The problems tend to be with the underlying technology. The underlying jukebox software does <b>not</b> scale well. I have around 12,000 tracks, and wants to display them all on one page.

One note. I had no problem with this running in the background on my dual 1Gz G4 <i>until</i> the kids got a new version of The Sims. Then they'd have problems with the characters suddenly walking around in (very) slow motion. After some playing I finally found that a nice level of "10" fixed that. (To translate, dig down into the MP3 Sushi package to the "tools" directory, edit start-radio.sh and add "nice -n 10 " in front of "./ices". That will tell the system not to give ices quite so much CPU. Didn't seem to impact playing music at all.
