StuffIt Expander ReviewDirect Download of Expander 2009 and 2010 - Version: 13.0.1, 11/24/2009 05:31AM PST

Here is the link to get the latest versions of Stuffit Expander, 2009 and 2010, without providing an email: http://my.smithmicro.com/downloads/trials/expander_mac.html And for the record, even though I don't use the Stuffit program for creating files, I LOVE the expander. It has always been the best free expander, better than The Unarchiver (at least, the last time I used it) or Mac OS X's built-in archive handling. That is a fact. Just because you hate the proprietary .sit format is no reason to bash the expander, which is a multi-unarchiver. Even if the .sit format disappeared tomorrow I would still use Stuffit Expander, because I like the way it works when uncompressing .ZIP, .RAR, and everything except else. I don't even care about .sit. Comments about the regular Stuffit program don't even belong in this topic, but people keep ignoring the rules and posting here anyway, even though what they say is totally irrelevant. This is the kind of behavior that makes PC users call Apple users nutjobs.

"The Unarchiver" should be able to do most of what you need, but if you really need Stuffit Expander, here's a link to the current direct download (no email address required).

StuffIt Expander ReviewThe end of the road - Version: 13.0.1, 10/23/2008 12:04PM PST

Since the software is not more from aladdin, it became buggy.
It is the end of the "sit" road since apple wants to jump to zip.

It is not stable and it is sometime out of control.

StuffIt Expander Usage Tip!!! NOW with unnecessary installer !!! - Version: 13.0.1, 10/22/2008 07:14AM PST

In the spirit of the kind person who posted the direct link for downloading, here is how to install Expander without running the pointless installer:

Control-click the installer and choose Show Package Contents

Navigate to Contents -> Resources -> Payload

Drag either the Stuffit folder or the Stuffit Expander app to your Utilities folder

I keep this lame app around to open legacy archives, but Smith Micro makes it nearly impossible to not hate them for constantly making simple things more complex with every release.

Ignored.

I'm taking it off my VT alert list.

StuffIt Expander CommentaryWhy all the silly requests for this to go away? - Version: 13.0.1, 10/21/2008 05:37PM PST

I'm really tired of these silly requests for this software to go away. If you don't need it fine but there are some of us who do need it and as long as we exist so will Stuffit Expander. I suggest you move along and quit posting such silly comments. It's not the end of the world and it's not hurting you so why not just give it a rest.

StuffIt Expander CommentaryTime for this to just go away - Version: 13.0.1, 10/21/2008 02:49AM PST

People. It's not 1987. You aren't using System 6. Your hard drive isn't 10 MB any longer. You aren't using a 300 baud modem. Just let this thing go.

Developers, quit using this product for your available downloads. We don't need it. A .dmg image is fine.

You can get a 'free' copy of Stuffit standard by 'completing one of these offers'

Stuffit has gone the way of 'free software' scammer
