PithHelmet ReviewWorks great in 32-bit mode - Version: 3.0b2, 1/17/2010 07:20PM PST

ActionAmerica.org
PithHelmet works great in Safari 4, but only 32-bit mode. With all of the new stuff that Apple put into the 64-bit implementation of Safari and OS-X, it hosed PithHelmet, when Safari is running in 64-bit mode. The trick is to set Safari to run in 32-bit mode, for the time being. The developer tells us that he is doing a complete rewrite of PithHelmet, rather than try to patch the current code in hundreds of places.

SInce PithHelmet was so superb, in the past, I can appreciate that the developer would not want to release a version that was nothing more than a bunch of kludges that might be create more problems.

For the time being, I am waiting patiently... Well actually, I'm not all that patient. I really miss Pith Helmet, but I really like the faster 64-bit Safari. I keep coming out to VersionTracker, in the hope that I'll find that the 64-bit PithHelmet has been released.

Would it seriously kill the dev to mention somewhere on the dev's site or somewhere... anywhere... that PithHelmet works fine with Safari 4.0.4??

I mean... this app IS for Safari, riiiiight???? Grrr..... I'm starting to regret the fact I donated money for this app.
