http://www.rna.nl/tex.html and download the i-Installer. By using it you can easily install Ghostscript 6, 7 and 8 to your system without screwing any permissions (plus you could also install latex and imagemagick, but there's no need to)

totally F*cks up many of the owerships at the root of the file system. It even changes the ownership of "/" for crying out loud. --Beware!!
