Auto Frame Detection - automatically creates frames for all images in the prescan
SF Multi-Exposure - creates a phenomenal increase of the hardware's capability to capture the full dynamic range, bringing out extensive image detail in both highlights and shadows. The following scanners work with SF Multi-Exposure:

Fully Automatic IT8-Calibration with Studio Version: Added a new feature that improves the IT8 calibration. The IT8 target will be recognized automatically and performs all steps until reporting success.
Scan frame: Look of scan frame changed. Instead of cross-hairs for rotating half-arcs can be used now. Also active frame is blinking in order to be noticed easier.

What's new in this version:

IMPROVEMENT:

All flatbed scanners that can be IT8-calibrated: It is now possible to activate the new "Printer Profiling Wizard" by an appropriate serial number.

IMPROVEMENT:

CMS: Long file names of ICC profiles were listed truncated in the Option dialog's CMS panel. Now the full file name (without path) is used.
General: Added a Service Button to the Universal Launcher so the User can easily enter the Service Mode that allows to reset the serial number, reset the Preferences or to copy the SilverFast logfile to the desktop for sending it to support.

Got the latest free update from Lasersofts website- new version installed wth no problem whatsoever. I guess I just had too much RAM....
This software gives me so much more control over my scans vs the one-button approach Epson Twain uses.

Until this company gets with the times, I'm standing with the individual who said this software is useless. I'm on a PowerMac dual G4 running OS X v10.2.6 and every attempt to install this software has ended in dismal failure. what does this program attribute to this failure to install on my system?! Not enough memory... which is utterly ridiculous since I have 2GB of the stuff. Obviously the fault is with the software itself.
