Safari Debugger ReviewCool! - Version: 2.8, 3/6/2004 03:37PM PST

Megavolt
Works as advertised and can't argue with the price! I wonder why Apple didn't enable this by default, or at least add the ability to enable it to the Safari preferences (but then why does the built in Calc program come with 2d graphing and other features turned off). I've run into a few web sites in the past that refuse to let me even try to access them, now I can "trick" them into thinking I am using an "approved browser".

Thanks!

Safari Debugger ReviewWorks for my purposes... - Version: 2.7, 2/4/2004 09:20PM PST

I use it to cloak my browser. I hate sites that don't even give your browser a chance before saying, no...sorry, you're not invited! Netlibrary just added this feature to their site. :oP Sorry, went on a rant. Yes, for what I need, revealing the debug menu works great.

Safari Debugger ReviewDoes exactly... - Version: 2.7, 11/23/2003 03:31PM PST

what it says on the tin! Brilliant! I had no idea Safari had this extra menu, it allows safari to immitate other popular browser so that you can use those irritating websites that say you have to be using one particular browser to continue (unfortunately my bank has one of them!). But now thanks to ScifienceStudios I can use this site.

As for the bad reviews, THIS SCRIPT IS FREE and it works (where's the problem?). For people like me (didn't know this menu exists & am not profficient in Terminal) this is perfect.

This software claims to activate the debug menu in safari, and that's what it does. I can't see any basis for critisism of it operation, although it's usefulness when a terminal command does the same job is questionable.

Also, apple is not going to 'fix this bug', because there is nothing wrong with Safari. The reason you cant use some internet banking sites with Safari is because the bank wont let you. Until the banks start allowing it the only way to use them with Safari is to set the user agent to something they do allow.

No whinging allowed, just installed and can use internet banking at last. this is a truelly great thing to find. I cannot for the life of me see what the problem with other reviewers is. I have used previous debuggers and they have not worked, big wow, its not like they hurt me or anything. This one works for me and for that i thank whoever spent the time writting it and getting it out there.

This is one of the things that really annoys me. None of the criticism below is constructive. Why do you all care so much? It's a little GUI that gives your mum access to Safari's debug menu. Grow up. I'm sure your mum would find it useful even if you don't. Some people don't understand how to use the terminal and that's why Macs are popular family systems.

Not all people sit on version tracker complaining all day about freeware software.

I'm doing my PhD in computer science and I'm sick of mundane comments about freeware programs. Do something useful with your lives. Or even better, write your own program so I can complain about it. Shouldn't you guys be using Linux anyways?.... give us all a break.

...than it does about the software. And those that tend to have "banking website problems" also tend to be as knowledgeable about computers as a doorknob is about the space travel. 8^)) I use Debugger for quite a few months now. IF you know what you need it for and how to use it, it works just fine.

To save you opening Terminal.app and typing

defaults write com.apple.Safari IncludeDebugMenu 1

does not seem something that requires a 2.7 version to get it right. Unless the author is a bloody beginner with two left hands and at least ten thumbs.

Save the effort of downloading it. It's useless.

Yet another fake update that doesn't actually change anything.
