But ever since installing this, my Powerbook G3 Pismo has constant disc activity. Every 10-15 seconds there is disc access that I can hear. The only thing I can think of is that it has something to do with this installation becuase I hadn't installed anything else recently. Any ideas about this? What is the uninstall process?
Great, but slight problem - Version: 4.0.21, 10/6/2004 01:04PM PST

karlx137I found that the start-up script's executable bits weren't set. To remedy this, launch Terminal, and enter the following command:
sudo chmod +x /Library/StartupItems/MySQL/MySQL

Although I've been using MySQL on Linux and BSD for quite a few years now, this is the first time I've run an installation on Mac OS X. Complete MySQL made the installation process a breeze and, unlike the Fink MySQL distribution, includes everything you need for automated startup and shutdown. Although Complete MySQL is a few minor versions behind the most recent stable MySQL distribution, that's perfectly acceptable for a personal or non mission critical application. Fortunately, if the most recent distribution is required, Complete MySQL can be installed for the startup scripts and preferences pane, then the latest binary or source distribution can be installed from MySQL.com.
