Tidy Up! CommentaryTemporary Price Cut on New - Version: 2.1.0, 9/17/2009 06:54PM PST

Steve Frawley
Not mentioned in review, but temporary price cut makes this powerful software even more appealing. See my earlier comments for this 5 Star program.
Not affiliated, just a happy customer! :)

Tidy Up! CommentaryVery nice application - Version: 2.0, 4/11/2009 12:39AM PST

But the upgrade price, 2/3 of the price of the sale price, is way too steep given that v2 doesn't effectively give any more functionality than v1. The new interface is nice and it's set out better but not $20 worth.

Tidy Up! CommentaryOutrageous upgrade price - Version: 2.0, 4/9/2009 12:43PM PST

$20 seems like an expensive upgrade option. I think Hyperbolic should reconsider this fee to be closer to $10 or maybe have a 3 month window for previous owners to purchase at a lower price.

Tidy Up! CommentaryGreat product, great support... - Version: 1.4.4, 8/7/2008 01:36PM PST

Great product, fast, and robust! ... **BUT WAIT THERE IS MORE,,,**
"The added bonus" is their support staff! The support people alone make it worth the few bucks for the program. Fewer and fewer software developers actually take pride to make sure that people can actually use their software.

After digesting the super-vast functionality of the software PLUS the amazing support of their staff (KUDOS: Giuseppe!) I feel like I should have paid more money. My hat is off to this company, the TidyUp software developers, their support team, and their mission to bring this functionality to us in the Mac world!

p.s. If you run into Giuseppe (a support person) in public, buy him a beer or three for Karma's sake! I will gladly! Cheers! Great job guys!

Tidy Up! ReviewAbsolutely Vital for IT/Content Managers - Version: 1.4.1, 5/17/2008 05:16AM PST

This utility has proven essential in our architectural practice, allowing us to streamline our libraries of hundreds of thousands of images, duplicate architectural files, temporary backups, thumbnail and empty folders (from when we had pc's in the office), backup files, etc. We run this routinely (monthly) on our servers and free hundreds of gigs that would otherwise have us buying ever more storage (which makes it worth the purchase price!). We can't recommend this product strongly enough, it is very fast, very flexible (customizable searches) and can be set to search any location, and the developer has been very prompt and responsive in adding a new feature for us.

Tidy Up! CommentaryOver Kill for Most People - Version: 1.3.3, 2/2/2008 12:00AM PST

I have only 4,000 songs in my iTunes Music Library. I pay attention to where I save and file things. For most people, who are *reasonably* attentive and organized, this program (roughly ONE THIRD the cost of an *new* OS, btw!) this is "over the top."

Somebody commented they found "5,000 exact duplicates" of one song! Oh god, can you say clueless? Somebody like that would probably have six cartons of milk --- all opened and half consumed --- in their refrigerator. Come on, really! Think about it.

If you pay *reasonable* attention to what the hell you are doing when you save or download (I didn't say "pirate" or "file share," optimistically), this program *might* be a good value if it were *free* (hell there are hundreds of useful, one-trick pony apps that are *worth* paying for but are *free*), but $30?

I'm glad I know how many cartons of milk are in my refrigerator. The "5,000 exact duplicate" comment provider? You need help! He'd argue, "well, I have '100,000 songs."

I'd argue, "yeah, and you probably haven't listened to more than 3,000 of them more than once," and "yeah, and how many dozen have you actually *paid* for?"

But, no, I wouldn't want to embarrass him/her.

Tidy Up! ReviewBetter than another Hard Drive! - Version: 1.3.1, 1/8/2008 07:44PM PST

Tidy Up is undeniably the best software I have found of it's kind. I'm always complaining about software that's made by "techies" for "techies", leaving us "right brained" creative types out in the cold. Hurray for Tidy Up! The developer has not forgotten WHY we love the Mac environment and stayed true to that.
No manual (or computer science degree) needed to get up and running BUT - just like the Mac environment - you can get as customized as you want as you get more and more familiar with it's capabilities. Tidy Up! found so many dups (years of drag and drop backups) on 4 different external drives, deleted all but ? (number of my choosing, depending on whether I need multiple edits or just one clip for reference), consolidated, trashed remaining empty folders... etc. I didn't need the extra Hard Drive I thought I was going to have to buy! Thank you Tidy Up!

Tidy Up! ReviewGreat Product! Great Support! - Version: 1.2.10, 9/7/2007 08:32AM PST

This amazingly powerful program has saved me many, many hours of tedious and almost impossible work. This update allowed me to find and delete almost 1000 duplicates in an iPhoto Library (new iLife '08 ver. 7.0.2) out of almost 35,000 after I had merged two libraries.

An earlier version removed over 5,000 exact duplicates in an iTunes Library close to 100,000 songs.

It also updates the programs' proprietary database to reflect the deletions. Be sure to 'delete' the dupes (Scary, but the items remain in the trash for recovery for backup reassurance until you empty the trash!). Merely 'moving' files messes up the program update function built into Tidy Up!. That integration with iPhoto and iTunes is invaluable. Beware some operations that update those databases can be time-consuming.

The Author's support has been fantastic also. The program is flexible for many applications regarding extensive complicated file comparisons, locating duplicates on various drives and generally saving lots of drive space.

Remember, however, that what this program does is very powerful and SOME ACTIONS CAN'T BE UNDONE so if you screw up, you are the one responsible! BACK UP VALUABLE FILES BEFORE PROCEEDING!!!!!

P.S. RTFD
