For anyone who has used any other illustration program for a significant about of time, EazyDraw takes a little bit of "unlearning" or "relearning" in order to get the hang of things. From the perspective of anyone experienced with vector drawing programs, EazyDraw isn't exactly "easy". On the contrary, If seems as Instead of offering a well-rounded array of tools, each with adjustable properties, EazyDraw offers a different tool for each significant option, which at times is somewhat confusing, feels a bit constrained and slows down workflow. The way the commands, items, etc are arranged in the menubar are a bit counter-intuitive at first, but it is possible to get used them after a few uses.

On the up side, EazyDraw exhibits an exceptional amount of powerful capabilities which seem like the product of a tight-knit group of highly skilled programmers. The down side is that the program feels like the development process was lacking the input of talented experience design (usability).

EazyDraw ReviewAn app that will win your heart - Version: 3.0, 5/3/2009 11:21AM PST

EazyDraw 3 is an exceptionally powerful program. It has a complex interface unlike any other drawing program. Its tools will appear familiar, yet are actually more flexible than most. The power and diversity of this program for graphical development on the mac is really exceptional. It requires an adjustment in the way you approach your drawing because the interface is rather atypical. This latter issue is my biggest problem when working with the app. The developer has added exceptional features that you find months after you have been working with the app.

The app has to become a big player in the mac graphic community. To do that I encourage each user to discuss interface and usability improvements with the developer. Such a developer is clearly very talented and will need feedback to provide the app we all want.

To conclude I recommend this app to all mac users either for quick and dirty drawings, or highly involved multilayered sophisticated renditions.

My star rating at 4 is due to the fact that usability can be improved, but in terms of functionality this is a 5 star app

I have been using this program for 3 months now - mainly to import and edit my numerous ClarisWorks(DR) diagrams. As I move up the learning curve, I am more and more impressed with its power and usability. I have used and tried many drawing and CAD programs over the years (alas, my Freehand skills are now wasted) and I have found this to be one of the most Mac friendly. I just had a response from the developer within 2 hours - that's service!

Does anybody have any experience using EazyDraw to open and work with Canvas files, both old Canvas 3.5 and recent Canvas X?

I've been using EazyDraw since January of 2004, and in my view it remains the best app for vector-based drawing in this price range. In early days, there were bugs and the developer always responded promptly to my reports. Though I continue to miss ClarisCAD and ClarisCAD II from years ago, EazyDraw certainly fulfills my requirements.

I hadn't checked these reviews for a while and now that I did I feel compelled to chime in here:

EazyDraw has been around and evolving for several years now. It may not be the easiest program to use right out of the box, but with a little bit of practice and reading the manual it turns out to be quite pleasant and very powerful. (Way more powerful than Clarisdraw was).

I do mostly technical drawings - schematics, block diagrams, rack layouts, etc. and EazyDraw does the job better than all the other Mac drawing programs I have tested. And it definitely is not buggy! I haven't had a crash in years and the tools (at least the ones I use) work as expected.

Finally, I feel it's important to mention that the developer is very responsive and even passionate about his application. Try it and really see for yourself.

EazyDraw CommentaryNothing beats ClarisDraw - Version: 2.0.0, 4/12/2006 12:31PM PST

I bought EazyDraw and although it tries hard - it is extremely buggy and non-intuitive. It is in fact so buggy, that, like the last poster, I no longer use it. I have used very many apps to try to replace ClarisDraw (big e.g. Illustrator, and small), but nothing gets close - not even Apples new Apps. (I havent tried Canvas - license too monstrous for such an experiment, but it looks very tempting, though a tad complicated). I speciifically didnt want an intel Mac, becasue it does not support Classic and ClarisDraw, and some of the other OS9 apps I need. For any developer trying to better ClarisDraw - make an OSX app that does exactly what ClarisDraw does, as fast and as intuitively as ClarisDraw does, then add your bells and whistles - not the other way around. Also remember to let the user turn yur bells and whistles off - we want to draw not sing.

I have used EazyDraw in various versions for a couple of years now.
Floor plans for house extensions to birthday cards. Forum graphics to user icons, I've not had any problems with it at all.
A 2 day learning curve is needed, Eazy Draw is far more powerful than it looks on the surface.
Worth learning how to use it properly.
