Product Description:

SafariCookieCutter is a simple cookie editor for Apple's new Safari Web browser. SafariCookieCutter allows any user to add cookies to Safari's cookie database, edit existing cookies, and delete cookies. SafariCookieCutter is useful for increasing the life of existing cookies, and manually importing your cookies into Safari from another browser.

Cookies are persistent objects stored on your computer by the Web browser. Web servers use them to save data between sessions and then query the data back later. Cookies have some positive uses, such as remembering user names and passwords, but they can also be used for some sites (usually advertisers) to track your Web surfing habits. Cookie editors facilitate adding cookies to the system, and removing the ones you don't want.

What's new in this version:

  • Added an actual icon.
  • Added a toolbar.
  • Added undo/redo support.
  • Modified the table view to allow multiple selections (a user request!).
  • The "delete cookie" command can now delete more than one cookie at a time.
  • Improved the documentation.
  • Changed the formatter on the "expires" column to look similar to the one inside Safari.

Operating System Requirements:

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

  • Mac OS X 10.3
  • Mac OS X 10.2

Additional Requirements:

  • Mac OS X 10.2 or higher

SafariCookieCutter CommentaryCookie Whitelist - Version: 1.3, 8/25/2004 08:09AM PST

I'm just looking for a cookie manager that will allow me to whitelist some cookies so I don't have to look at them again. I *wish* safari could sort by "date created", which would make this easier (so I can scroll past the ones I've allowed and just look at the rest).

SafariCookieCutter CommentaryWouldn't it be simpler? - Version: 1.3, 2/25/2004 11:31AM PST

Seacæt

The idea for cookie managers is great, but wouldn't it be simpler just to add built-in Preferences to Safari? Safari already has a Preference to "Accept Cookies: Never."

All that is needed are two tweaks: (1) "Always accept from the following:" (such as *apple.com); and (2) Always accept and "Dump at end of session the following:" (such as *yahoo.com).

I'm no programmer, but I think an app. for developers, "SIMBL" already makes modifying Preferences easy. I use Saft and Pithhelmet which use that.
