Can be done with Applescript - Version: 1.6, 2/13/2006 02:24PM PST

The same results can be handled with an Applescript folder action attached to the /Volumes folder. There's information on Apple's Applescript pages explaining exactly how to do this.

Would be really cool if I could tell iPod Launcher to delay the launch of one or all items in the list. Currently I use an AppleScript to delay my backup routine until iSync is likely to be done. Telling iPL to simply wait two minutes before running anything would be more elegant.
Thanks for adding the "next launch" delay! That's a big help, too.

Too many problems

I love the idea of this, but it simply has too many issues to be really useful:
- Traceable memory leak
- Installation location decisions are awkward (it always installs the prefpane to /Library/PreferencePanes/ - there is no option to keep it local to your account in ~/Library/PreferencePanes/)
- Permissions on the installed components are HORRIBLE (what's up with UID 501 across everything? These items should all be root:admin ownership)
- There are better ways of checking for the presence of an iPod, rathern than scheduling a background task every [x] minutes
I would agree that Apple should provide similar functionality. But for now, simply keeping a folder full of apps/scripts/aliases ON your iPod (which you see when it's mounted, and can launch yourself all at once) appears to be a less-problematic approach.
