Product Description:

Little Snitch tells you when a program tries to send info to the internet. If you do not like the idea of information possibly being gathered from your computer and being sent to who-knows-where for who-knows-what, Little Snitch helps. When an application tries to establish a network connection, Little Snitch intercepts the attempt and brings up an alert panel giving you all the connection details including the name of the application, which initiated the connection. You either choose to allow the connection, to deny it or to add a permanent rule for similar future connections.

Little Snitch Features
  • Prevents applications from "phoning home".
  • Protects you from spy ware like trojans, worms, and other network parasites.
  • Shows which applications send information over the internet.
Upgrades from previous versions are free to existing customers.

What's new in this version:

  • Little Snitch is now a Universal Binary that runs on both PowerPC and Intel-based Macs.
  • Little Snitch protects itself against forced termination (kill) now. This protection was always available on Mac OS X 10.3 and has now been ported to the new 10.4 kernel.
  • Disallow GUI scripting (access for assistive devices) for Little Snitch by default, even if the user allows it in the "Universal Access" preference pane. UI scripting is a security risk because it allows remote control of applications. If you need assistive devices, GUI Scripting can still be enabled for Little Snitch in the Little Snitch preference pane.

Operating System Requirements:

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

  • Mac OS X 10.4 Intel
  • Mac OS X 10.4 PPC
  • Mac OS X 10.3.9
  • Mac OS X 10.3
  • Mac OS X 10.2

Additional Requirements:

  • Mac OS X 10.2 or higher

When new connections are asked for it takes minutes for the rule to take effect and the allow changes padlock keeps locking itself after being unlocked. This is the first time I've had trouble with this application ever. Mac Pro 10.6.1 10Gb RAM

Little Snitch ReviewStill not functioning properly in Leopard - Version: 2.2, 9/28/2009 04:33PM PST

This is still not functioning properly in Leopard (10.5.8). Will not register Quicken 2007 as an application?
