Complete PHP Commentarywaiting for 4.3.10 or 5.0.3 of this Complete PHP - Version: 4.3.9, 2/28/2005 03:37PM PST

ecantrell
I agree with MacDog... I have been waiting for the newer version but in the manual, it says you can update Complete PHP but I am no expert or a experienced user.. from the install manual;
Building Your Own PHP Update Complete PHP provides all the necessary components to build your own PHP updates against the libraries and headers that are installed. This is generally only recommended for experienced users. The following is the list of arguments passed to "configure" when building Complete PHP: --prefix=/Library/PHP4 --with-apxs2=/Library/Apache2/bin/apxs --with-openssl=/usr --with-zlib=/usr --enable-calendar --enable-shared (this is partial paste but you can find it on page 5 in the manual.. )

So does anyone know the step to provide us to update Complete PHP either to 4.3.10 or 5.0.3

Thanks!

Complete PHP CommentaryWhy is this package not updated? - Version: 4.3.9, 2/12/2005 07:27AM PST

There is a security problem in 4.3.9. Why can't the maintainer of this package update it to 4.3.10?

Complete PHP Troubleshooting ReportPHP PEAR implementation is missing the PEAR Log package - Version: 4.3.4R2, 3/21/2004 08:58PM PST

It would have been nice if I didn't have to go learn about this the hard way. Still, it seemed a lot better than having to compile everything else on my own. I would still recommend it for a quick way to get up and running.

Complete PHP ReviewThanks for MMCache! - Version: 4.3.4R2, 12/26/2003 06:45AM PST

I'm still very satisfied with complete PHP. This package just saves me a LOT of time. No compiling/building needed, installing is a one-click-wonder!

Thanks for including MMCache with this version, I started using the -fabulous- MMCache some weeks ago at my work and was just about to ask the author to include it in completePHP.

Thanks! really great software!

Complete PHP CommentarySlowness Issue - Version: 4.3.4R2, 12/25/2003 11:32AM PST

afaby
If anyone is experiencing the slowness, can you please post about it on our forums: http://www.serverlogistics.com/forums/ We are trying to get to the bottom of this issue. Release 2 seemed to fix the problem on our test machines, so we assumed it would work for others. One thing to try is to do a fresh install of Complete PHP, i.e. remove /Library/PHP /Library/Receipts/PHP4.pkg, and the module file, and reinstall the package.

Complete PHP ReviewSlow, but... - Version: 4.3.4R2, 12/25/2003 09:16AM PST

I agree that these packages are slow. I've had trouble with a PHP app that uses Smarty loading slowly or failing to load altogether. Apache seems to try to load the page before PHP delivers the content, and the client gets a page full of PHP warnings. But I am having good results using the Zend optimizer together with these packages, and recommend that solution to others experiencing speed issues.

Complete PHP CommentarySeems awfully slow - Version: 4.3.4, 12/5/2003 02:44PM PST

Mike Dustan
Not quite sure why, but Complete PHP with Complete Apache is very slow on the first visit to a page. Some pre-cache compile time is understandable, but why would it take 5-8 seconds on a PHP page that took about 2 seconds on a stock Panther install? Repairing disk permissions didn't seem to help.

BTW, installation was indeed a snap - except for one manual change required to the Apache config. Yes, it adds the loadmodule stuff, but it doesn't update the DirectoryIndex line to include index.php. Not a problem if you know what you're doing, but if you don't...

Complete PHP ReviewNo tellin - Version: 4.3.4, 12/5/2003 12:40PM PST

what "no tellin" is talking about. The freeware products offered by Server Logistics are extremely well implemented and make installation of these open-source solutions extremely simple. I have had absolutely no problems installing and implementing Apache, PHP and MySQL from installers provided by these folks. At this price, I think they can be a release or two behind. Well done!
