A Huge Thank you to those gallant people who have taken over development of this wonderful little PrefPane!
Version 2.1.2 was working ok under 10.6, but imagine my surprise when i checked to see if there was an update and found this new version, already in 64-bit and working flawlessly under 10.6!!

Thank you again!
Peter

GeekTool ReviewAbsolutely awesome - Version: 3.0rc3, 8/2/2009 05:07PM PST

Geektool is an indispensable gadget to add bits of information to your desktop. From tailing a log to a dynamic image, Geektool does all. It might be a bit confusing to set up for the first time user, but there's a list of tips and links on the Geektool wiki page to help you get an idea what you can do with this.

GeekTool CommentaryPermissions in Leo - Version: 2.1.2, 6/25/2008 05:23PM PST

If you run most of the time on Leopard as non-admin neither Geektool or MKconsole can show you /var/log/system.log because of lack of permissions. Somehow Console.app manages to in "Log Database Queries" but NOT directly. Is any of this registering with anyone? I am torn between thinking you should not have routine access to system.log as a regular user, but I also need to see it, so for convenience I would like to solve this.

Good product. A little buggy when switching between dual screen and single screen modes.

GeekTool really is a great tool. I don't use it to display log files but dynamically changing data.

Thanks.

GeekTool CommentaryWhere did version 2.1.2 come from? - Version: 2.1.2, 3/21/2006 08:26AM PST

Where did version 2.1.2 come from?

The developer's web site makes no mention of 2.1.2. It's still distributing 2.1.1 as the latest.

How can VT be distributing a newer version than the developer is distributing on his own web site? Shouldn't the developer's web site be the authoritative source?

I think I'll stick with 2.1 for a while longer until this gets cleared up.

Weird...

... you can rate the current version, assign one star or even zero, but please, be nice enough to drop me a mail with a precise description of the problem.
Everyone complains here, but not a single guy contacted me

GeekTool ReviewBroken here too - Version: 2.1.1, 3/12/2006 01:58PM PST

Just using this to tail the system.log. Loaded the new version, and logged out and in, and cannot for the life of me to get it to do what it did in the jaw version.

Love the tool, tynsoe, but this try apparently didn't go.
