Product Description:

TreetopLights is an AppleScript Studio application that places a Christmas tree on the desktop and holiday lights on the menubar or screen edges. The desktop tree can be decorated with blinking or fading lights, ornaments, a treetop star, and perhaps some snow. The ambient lighting can be controlled for the appearance of a dimly or brightly lit room, and the transparency and size of the tree can be set to keep it out of the way, or set the perfect holiday mood. The optional but festive menubar lights can blink or glow to decorate the menubar, or even go around the screen. A countdown timer displaying days until Christmas and the twelve days of Christmas is also included for on-tree display. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

What's new in this version:

  • added ability to place lights on all screen edges
  • added support for spanning lights across multiple screens
  • added ability to customize font for on-tree countdown display
  • fixed an issue that would prevent 12 days of Christmas display
  • improved some of the graphics for tree/lights
  • fixed a memory issue that increased application memory usage over time
  • this should also fix an issue where the lights would "turn off" after a few minutes

    Very nice program with lots of usable options. I would suggest more blinking options for the tree and screen.

    Noted bug: Program has issues with respect to selecting the sides of screen to display the lights. Frequently lights are displayed on a screen side that is not checked off. Only way to fix it is to deselect all sides and then select the one you want.

    If you need a program with more flexibility and less processor usage, try MacLampsX. It's based off of the old Holiday Lights from OS 9, and only uses 3-5% on my computer. Plus, the bulbs can be set to alternate, chase, or blink together, or simply to stay on all the time.
