Product Description:

This little program is a fully functional web browser that overlays your Mac OS X desktop. It can be configured to periodically refresh, which may be useful for displaying things like stock tickers, web cams, or other frequently updated news pages.

What's new in this version:

  • It's now a Universal binary (Intel Mac compatible)
  • It now, at long last, will remember the previously loaded URL
  • Added some additional refresh interval options (8 hour, 12 hour, and 24 hour)
  • Fixed a bug that caused JavaScript stuff to not work on some sites (the Google Maps API, in particular)

Operating System Requirements:

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

  • Mac OS X 10.4 Intel
  • Mac OS X 10.4 PPC
  • Mac OS X 10.3.9

I don't see what this app accomplishes. it's not truly a desktop app, it still black icons on the desktop from being clicked, you still have to click on it to work with it, i don't see tha dvantage over just having safari open

WebDesktop Usage TipStart WebDeskop on a specific local page - Version: 2.2, 2/27/2005 06:04PM PST

You can use the command line 'open' command to force WebDesktop to open and load a specific local page. For example:

open -a /Applications/WebDesktop.app ~/layout3.html

Causes WebDesktop to open and load the layout3.html file in your home directory. I use this in my user login script to load a page containing information updated by cron scripts to provide a personal 'information portal.' Works very well as the background on my second monitor.

... there are bookmarks missing. Having to type in the desired url every restart is quite annoying. I use it for monitoring our servers. 5 stars when a bookmark-feature is added. But nevertheless really cool.
