iCan is a fully customizable trashcan for OS X desktops for those who still miss the one in OS 9.

Features:

It appears empty when it's empty, and full when it's full
It can be sized independently to that of the desktop icons from 32 to 128 pixels
It is fully customizable using trash themes
Includes several themes made by several talented icon designers
Themes can contain sounds for deleting and emptying the trash
Easily create your own themes - instructions are included
Includes options to delete locked items and force delete stubborn items

What's new in this version:

Sound now works again (broke in 10.b9)
Tamed the "Demo" badge on the trash (a bit - it appears after 10 minutes use)
Moved "Empty Trash" and "Open Trash" menu items to the top of the contextual menu

Problems in 10.5.1 - Version: 3.0.5, 1/25/2008 12:00AM PST

A minor glitch. I can't seem to be able to drag items to the can in 10.5.1. I can do the Command/Delete and it work fine, but when I drag, it only highlights the can, but it does not go in.

Maybe a new update will be forthcoming soon?

excellent app. nice to have on the desktop. best of all the "trash can programs" for OS X.
excellent support from the developer as well. emails promptly responded too.

works in Tiger, Leopard fine. did notice in Leopard that when you drag items to the trash and empty via iCan, sometimes the trash can does not update and it shows that items are in it, but they are not. if you use the finder to empty the trash, then all is well. a small glitch that i am sure the dev will address.

highly recommended.
