The world of Stop Motion (or also called Claymation) Animation now comes to Mac OS X with Boinx iStopMotion. Used by educators, professional and amateur film makers all over the world to create astonishing work, iStopMotion is the tool of choice for this fascinating technique.
Based on Apple's QuickTime Technology, iStopMotion can be used in professional environments. The captured frames are stored uncompressed so that the raw material has the highest possible resolution. Professional Tools such as Adobe Photoshop and Final Cut can be used for further editing.

What's new in this version:
1.8.0 beta 10 - iStopMotion DV, HR and Still Camera Plugin
- New Sound Support for the HR version
Given a HR license you can now import a soundtrack into iSopMotion. A graphical waveform will help you match your animation to the sound. Sound can be played alone by clicking and holding the mouse button somewhere on the waveform, and of course along with the movie in playback.
A context menu gives access to some common soundtrack operations like muting, moving and replacing the sound. - New Major Timeline Improvements
- The timeline can now display small thumbnails of the frames if timeline magnification is turned on.
- Drag & Drop is supported in the timeline. You can move or copy any selection by dragging / Option-dragging it in the timeline.
- Dragging image files from the Finder into the timeline imports those images, dragging the other direction exports images.
- New Multiple Still Camera Import
More than one shot can be imported from a still camera into iStopMotion in one go. Also watch for some new appearance configuration inside the import window. - New Playback Improvements
There are new menu options to only playback the current selection and to loop the playback. - New Completely Redesigned and Improved Preferences
- Enh In order to better spot the difference between preview and movie image during blinking, there is now an option to mark the preview image with a red dot. See the View menu.
- New All necessary files are now distributed inside the application package, there is no longer the need for an installer.
- Fix Fix known bugs of version 1.5

I use this with my iSight. My kids and I use it quite a bit, and they actually control the snapping of the picture. They really enjoy the results with their Lego models and dolls and such. Great support, good documentation and feature set. No regrets, except that I don't get to use it as much as I like.

I've been using iStopmotion from the start and the greatest thing about this app is that the developers really listen to requests and feedback. Really any wish I had for the app has been "granted", so feels like it is an app specially made for me.
