Product Description:

ThemeChanger switches your theme in MacOS X. It currently supports .theme and tpkg2. It's still in early alpha so don't expect a finished product. Released under the terms of the GNU GPL.

What's new in this version:

  • A bit more error checking.
  • Resource-based theme upgrades. Not extensively tested, but should work.
  • Works on 10.2.3.
  • Themes which have subfolders within them now work.

Outstanding application for the cost, and much less system CPU and RAM usage compared to other apps. Recommend using the following links to convert those GuiKits to DLTA for ThemeChanger use:

Like many open source projects the web site is full of geek speak and there is no easy way to give feedback or ask a question. To add to the confusion, the home page at http://themechanger.sourceforge.net/ has links to a lot of theme sites that make themes, apparently for ShapeShifter in the guiKit format - which don't work in ThemeChanger. The only theme that does work is Iridium; if the other themes won't work in ThemeChanger, why bother linking to them on the site? If these linked sites have any themes which will work in TC there's no easy way to find them. It's a great way to waste an afternoon figuring this out for yourself.

That said, the Iridium theme does work and is easy on the eyes. But I don't see the point in developing an app that is incompatible with the vast majority of available theme files.

Something to tell you what version of OSX the theam is for.
