A decent crossfade is pretty easy to do with Imaging Lingo, or you can get whole sets of OpenGL based transitions from DirectXtras, including some incredible crossfade stuff, and others that make Keynote's look like... well, still a decent presentation package, I guess - but one with a lot less openGL-based tansitions than Director has.
bug not fixed

it's hard to believe: they still didn't fix a ug that's really offending and superfluous. Or am I missing something? On my PowerBook G4, when setting the stage to Location 0,0 (upper left) in the DisplayTemplate in authoring mode, when switching to full screen, the stage remains where it was with the menu bar visible. When I do a presentation by video projector switching to full screen the stage does not go to the upper left and my buttons etc. are outside the picture.
And the built-in transitions are still Director 4 (or earlier). A decent cross-fade remains absent.

After the upgrade, entering "trace(_system.environmentPropList.productVersion)" at the message window like MM suggests, still traces "10.0" in Panther.
Great Upgrade, the best in years

I've been a Director's user for many years and I was really disapointed of the last versions of Director, especially 9.
in version 10 maybe the interface is the same, but the great change come with Lingo and the wonderful way to name sprites and code with Javascript syntax. In that way I can make scripts in Actionscript and Lingo without have to remember to put an "end" instead of "}".
And the best of all, Director at last can make Mac and Win projectors, even full screen without xtras.
It has another cool features, like support for Flash MX 2004, support for DVDs and the fix of some bugs.
Finally Macromedia really invest some time in this wonderful product.

Is there, finally, a decent, fast, smooth built-in cross-fade transition? Or will dmfade work again with Director MX 2004?
Has anyone ever upgraded from an educational version? - Version: 2004, 1/5/2004 07:36AM PST

Has anyone ever upgraded from an educational version of Director to a commercial version? I've done this with Adobe products, but not Macromedia.

I would have thought it a priority to fix the DWMX2004 debacle and pacify disgruntled users before launching new potential nightmares on a now very wary public....

better go to the site as there are more new features than just the marketing ones listed here..flash members can now be grouped for better performance, direct access to DVD video files, new syntax(javascript+lingo),..so nothing that is mind-blowing, but some nice additions/updates..Gets it up to speed with the other MX apps. If there are features you would like to see then use the feature-request froms at macromedia.com.

Windows can make projectors for classic Mac (OS 9 etc.)
