Audio Recorder ReviewGreat and Compact - OS X 10.4.11 User - Version: 3.1, 11/16/2009 02:40PM PST

This is amazingly small compared to Rec 2.1.3. It also lets you record in Mp3. A very big bonus. Rec 2.1.3 records in aiff. The size per time is so much bigger in Rec 2.1.3 that I had some concern. When I am just doing voice and running mono at 96 kbps For a 25 minute conversation it takes up less thatn 16 megs. My voice seems to have a little "character" to it, but is absolutely not an issue (kind of bassy with fullness). I am switching from Rec 2.1.3. Also, you can pause the recording, which you cannot in Rec 2.1.3. And I can select the kpbs and six other settings besides Mp3. I use the internal microphone to record voice notes. Very satisfied.

If you are running 10.4.11 you have to use version 3.1 which you I could recently find on the web.
I have a MacBook Pro Intel Core 2 Duo 2.16 Mhz.

Audio Recorder Troubleshooting ReportWorking on leopard 2 - Version: 3.1, 12/5/2007 06:47AM PST

still works but i got it to crash again
i unplugged my external isight cam and i launched it again. it launched twice but crashed twice when i tried to record on the internal mic.

the second time it crashed, it asked if i would like to reset the settings (which i guess means trash the preference file) and reopen. i clicked yes, and i was able to make a recording. it even saved into its proper folder. sweet.

this needs a little tweak, but it isnt dead!

i too had multiple crashes with this since updating to leopard, but as of today, it started working again!

i repaird my permissions recently and i wonder if that is all it was.
it works just fine now! not sure what changed. i will experiment and see if i can duplicate the crashes to figure out the problem.

im on a powerbook G4 2GB ram 1.5GHz 15" with an external isight currently plugged in......
i am also using rouge amoebas "SoundSource" and im not sure if that has anything to do with it or not....

i am REALLY happy that it works again!
using QT Pro is limited compared to Audio Recorder...

I am another longtime user, supporter and hugely grateful to you for this simple and effective tool you have created - and share freely. Yay!

I have created several recordings, since Leopard 10.5.0, which I cannot open - Help and please advise!

I have now stopped using audio recorder and am very much looking forward to this latest compatibility issue to being resolved. I really want audio recorder being fully functional in Leopard. Let us know when it is ready! Thanks very very much, Ben

Neil

I've been using it for a long time now, without a problem.

I installed Leopard, and hopla! Audio Recorder crashes all the time.

If the makers of this program are reading.. please please make it Leopard compatible.

Thanks!

Audio Recorder ReviewGreat piece of software! - Version: 3.1, 7/14/2007 09:16AM PST

I've been using Audio Recorder for some three years now.
At the beginning I used version 2.2 on an iBook G4 with Mac OS X 10.3.9 and now I'm using version 3.1 on a slightly faster iBook G4 with Mac OS X 10.4.10.
It works just great!
I've been recording hours and hours of lessons (with the built-in microphone), which I shared with my classmates.
It is really easy to use, but still gives space to a lot of customizing: I could choose the best settings in order to make my recordings well understandable, while keeping the files not too big (about 100 Mb for an hour and a half or so of voice recording).
And, on the top of it, it is free!
I really recommend this app to anyone there who need to record from microphone!

Now after I've been using Audio Recorder for quite some time, I've tried to run it on a different Mac (G4/800, 10.3.9).

Here's what it sends to Terminal.app:

$pwd
/Users/foo/Desktop/Audio Recorder 3.1/Audio Recorder.app/Contents/MacOS
$ ./Audio\ Recorder
objc: failed objc_getClass(NSLevelIndicator) for CustomLevelIndicator->super_class
objc: please link appropriate classes in your program
Trace/BPT trap<

Please make an older version available (one that runs under 10.3) or fix this bug.

Audio Recorder CommentarySo easy to use--and Free! - Version: 3.1, 4/19/2007 01:54AM PST

I have paid for other programs to record system audio and input and this works better for me than any of them. It's so simple to set up and easy to use: Just set the quality and format, click record and then stop when done, name it and send it to itunes or any other mp3 player. Easy as a cassette recorder and easier than a mini-disc. No bothering with having to convert formats, no extra outboard accessories needed other than a simple patch cord. Quality of recording is excellent. Just so easy! And Free!!! My compliments to the developer!

Audio Recorder Troubleshooting ReportGreat Program, but need help - Version: 3.1, 2/25/2007 09:49PM PST

This program is great. I've used it record a bunch of audio. One time I was in the middle of recording something and my MacBook Pro crashed. I'm left with a file that contains what was recorded up to the point of the crash. But it won't play back. Is there any way I can recover this audio? Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
