Product Description:

Unlike other impersonal, server-driven file-sharing networks, Direct Connect offers a community-oriented, open, user-controlled network. Moreover, Direct Connect's network architecture is built on a peer-to-peer foundation; users run, control, and maintain the network. Users are able to share any type of file - absolutely no restrictions. These files are easily viewed through a familiar organized windows-explorer interface. To conveniently access the plethora of files, advanced searching capabilities and filters are provided. All of these features are integrated into Direct Connect's unique communal file-sharing system.

What's new in this version:

  • Compatible with all versions of Mac OS X. Supports a 'Complete' folder to copy successful transfers to.
  • Many speed optimizations. The software won't slow down when connected to several hubs linking thousand of users,
  • Operator functions are supported (ctrl-click)
  • The application registers the dchub:// protocol with the OS. It can be used from anywhere. Examples
    dchub://hubaddress/
    dchub://hubaddress:hubport/
    dchub://hubaddress:hubport/username/
    dchub://hubaddress:hubport/username/folder/folder/file.ext
  • Supports bandwidth capping for asymmetrically connected users. Capping your upload, will also cap your download to 8x the upload cap.
  • The speed column in the transfers window is right aligned
  • New uploads and downloads are added to the bottom of the transfers list to prevent the selection from jumping around.
  • The dclst cache is cleared on startup
  • Preferences are properly validated
  • More accurate search results
  • Receiving a private message no longer unhides the app
  • The settings window is now centered
  • The favorites list is editable.

This software simply will not work no matter what your OS and no matter whatever else you have. The developer has simply given up on this project, and it would be pointless to attempt to use it. Attempting to download this file would be as useful as jamming a red hot fire poker through your eye. To put it simply... don't waste your time.

Just downloaded it. Opens an information window and a download browser, then crashes within about 2 seconds after launching. I'm using Mac OS 10.3.8.

Probably one of the worst pieces of crapware ever released for OSX, who's authors are entirely dependent on selling your email address to spammers for a revenue source.

About the best filesharing app I've seen so far is LimeWire (guaranteed spyware free!!).
