There seems to be a newer version available at http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/unix_open_source/carbonemacspackage.html that has a version number of "21" and release/modification dates of February 17, 2005. VT Pro is telling me the 21.3.50.03.11.14.CVS with a date of December 15, 2003 is the later version, but not according the the Apple UNIX apps download page.

The font menu doesn't seem to work; none of the other courier font sizes are found, for example. I can set a font (e.g. monaco) in my .emacs, but it seems to ignore any font size greater than 14pt. On a 1400x900 screen, this is somewhat hard on my aging eyes. So for now I prefer XEmacs (X11 app available as a fink package).
I've seen them all and this is the best!

I use Emacs heavily at work on a number of different Unix platforms. At home I want to use the same editor, and this Emacs is far and away the best one I've found. This latest version bundles all the goodies inside of a single Finder bundle, making it self-contained and portable and trivial to install. Solid as a rock, this is the editor I use all the time. Despite its Unix background, this version has good integration with MacOS including the ability to open documents dropped on its icon. I recommend this to all my fellow Unix/Mac users.
Really the best emacs for OS X

I've tried all versions, also the cvs version from savannah, this is the most complete and usable.
I have only 1 feature request: font smoothing in emacs windows, i've tried some hack, (i.e silk) but smoothing works only in title bar, not in windows. Is this possible?

All works fine but i'm unable to use Gnus to post mail.
The pb is with the smtpmail-send-it function : when trying to send the mail with C-c C-c, emacs complains with a stringp error related to this function :(
The same .gnus and .emacs work fine with the Fink X11 Emacs

just the *basic* version of emacs, it is installed already in your OS X system go to terminal /usr/bin and type emacs. this carbon emacs is nice, but it's too huge for my needs as a basic editor > if you like terminal try the one you have already.
