Product Description:

Sound Byte is a computerized cart machine for the Macintosh. It is very similar to the so-called cart machines used at radio stations in the past. Each recording - a song, jingle, advertisement, etc, was on a cartidge, which could be quickly selected and played. Sound Byte brings the cart machine to the computer age. You can select up to 75 recordings per rack, and assign each to a button. Clicking on a button plays that recording. Multiple recordings can be played at the same time. A playlist feature allows you to organize sound clips to be played in a particular order.

Sound Byte supports playback of mp3, AIFF, WAVE, au, and any sound file format supported by QuickTime.

What's new in this version:

  • Added Timed Play List.
  • Added clock on the rack window.
  • Added a time offset option to handle time delays.

Operating System Requirements:

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

  • Mac OS X 10.3.9

Sound Byte CommentaryGreat Product - Version: 3.7.0, 11/2/2008 03:58AM PST

MI Talk Host
I use Soundbyte everyday on my news/talk radio program. It makes it incredibly easy to keep track of soundbytes, music breaks and sound effects.

We use a very expensive commercial product at the station for most audio control functions. If takes a very complicated and touchy sequence of keyboard entries to program audio into the buttons. With Soundbyte it's drag-and-play simple.

Tremendously useful product for broadcast professionals and wannabes!

Works great for me. A must have for podcasters and great fun for phone pranks/responding to annoying calls. I love it!

Tried to get different files to open in this program but each and every one was dimmed out preventing me from even draging and droping. Is there something I do not understand? Please let me know as I think this would be a great program to use.
