Product Description:

Sound Byte is a computerized cart machine for the Macintosh. It is very similar to the so-called cart machines used at radio stations in the past. Each recording - a song, jingle, advertisement, etc, was on a cartidge, which could be quickly selected and played. Sound Byte brings the cart machine to the computer age. You can select up to 75 recordings per rack, and assign each to a button. Clicking on a button plays that recording. Multiple recordings can be played at the same time. A playlist feature allows you to organize sound clips to be played in a particular order.

Sound Byte supports playback of mp3, AIFF, WAVE, au, and any sound file format supported by QuickTime.

What's new in this version:

  • Bug fix: Pauses in play lists did not work.
  • Bug fix: Sdding a pause to a play list could cause a crash/
  • Bug fix: Clicking on a progress bar on a cart linked to a play list could cause a crash.
  • Bug fix: bringing up the QuickTime details for an empty cart could cause a crash.

Works great for me. A must have for podcasters and great fun for phone pranks/responding to annoying calls. I love it!

Tried to get different files to open in this program but each and every one was dimmed out preventing me from even draging and droping. Is there something I do not understand? Please let me know as I think this would be a great program to use.

I think its pretty much a virtual cart machine, just like it says. It plays all file types, and mixed file types with no problems. My only wish is that the crossfade times be user definable, and maybe even uniquely customizable for the end and beginning of each song.

Great work. I hope the developer keeps going with it. There needs to be a lot more Mac apps like this one for broadcasting and DJing.
