First, the demo version was what I tried and after the first game it went into extremely slow motion and became unplayable. It took 5 seconds between clicks to see any action on the screen.
Second, this is Risk, sure, with a few variants to refresh the old genre, but all told a game that has been done to death. There are many, many more templates for quick strategy games out there that do not rely on the tedium and uncertainty of random conflict resolution. This is so 1970s.
It does look like the developer has put decent effort into support and community. I will say that.

The software is really great I play it all the time and bought a license, but I agree with the others this software isn't worth paying more then Halo?? It's great, but it's just for fun, get more members on, they should charge $14.99 or something if possible.

I agree w/below user. Lux does not seem finished enough for this price. It almost feels like open source software. Grented the community and online play is nice but chat's aren't monitored and controlled. iConquer is a simmilar game and looks a whole lot prettier (and i think it's cheaper) But players are impossible to find in this version. the next version will have a host finding feature. (if it ever comes out.)

Shareware games of this type should never cost this much. Never seemed like a finished product.

I am really enjoying playing this game. The attention to details is outstanding and there is an excellent web site supporting the game.
Multiplaying is very well conceived and easy. There is a very strong community playing together with ladders and rankings.
Lux has a plugin architecture which allows extra maps, AI types, etc... There is a lot of maps currently available.
Highly recommended.

this will freeze not only lux but your whole system for twenty minutes at a time. with os x's protected memory vms this is quite an achievement.
spoils what is otherwise an excellent game.
