This was working for me, but then it stopped. I try to open it, and it closes. Thread 0 has crashed. Error ID 1002. The Mac lacks a decent tool to find out why programs do this.

Works exactly like unix Xchat :) Very good job. It's fairly lightweight and performs well.

X-Chat Aqua ReviewBest client, hands down - Version: 0.16.0, 12/19/2006 09:25PM PST

If you're looking for features as well as a great, easy to use interface, this is your app. The one request that I have is for there to be a way to turn off font smoothing (anti-aliasing) for fonts above 10 pts.

X-Chat Aqua ReviewBest IRC Client Now Perfect - Version: 0.16.0, 10/25/2006 10:34PM PST

Woooohoooo! This is about as good as it gets. This new version, with irc:// protocol handling, universal binary, and all-around improvements have solved all my problems. X-Chat Aqua is by far the best IRC client for MacOS X, and it's free! If I had any 'wouldn't it be nice' feature I'd like in a possible future version, it would be built-in support for the dccserver extension, as it is fairly common to run into, and quite tricky to run using CLI tools...

X-Chat Aqua CommentaryAwesome program, one problem - Version: 0.15.1, 1/18/2006 09:10PM PST

This is by far the best irc application out for OS X. Believe me, i've tried them all. Now only problem w/ this recent version is that "strip mirc colors" doesn't seem to work anymore. I use a plugin named nicenicks that has a better algorithm for coloring peeps names, it worked good on .14 but now on .15.1 it seems to kill the strip mirc color preference. Is it just me?

X-Chat Aqua Commentary0.15 Looks Ugly - Version: 0.15.1, 1/13/2006 11:07AM PST

Starting with iTunes 5, Apple has taken a fancy to completely borderless windows. However, this attempt to emulate it by X-Chat Aqua seems half-baked. Essentially, it looks like everything was simply stretched or shifted to the edges of the window so the result is something that looks like it was cut too close to the edge.

X-Chat Aqua is, in contradiction to many of the previous posts, the best IRC client with a graphical interface on the Macintosh at the present time. The only difficulty I had with version 0.15.1 is that i had to delete my preferences of the previous version. The only other viable competitor I see at this time is Snak which is a decently priced Shareware. Snak's main advantage over X-Chat Aqua is that its interface is somewhat more intuitive but if you know a minimum about IRC, X-Chat Aqua is just as well thought out and attractive. Colloquy is probably the most attractively designed interface going but its stability and speed are still lacking. X-Chat Aqua is still the best choice on the Mac overall due to its attractive interface, stability and full set of features not to mention its open source (read free in this case) origins.

X-Chat Aqua ReviewX-Chat Is A Cruel Joke - Version: 0.15.1, 1/12/2006 05:19AM PST

Once again the team of X-chat fails to correct an ongoing connection problem. What is with you? All you do is disappoint yourselves and us. We realize that you are not perfect and neither are we, however the most important thing fails to work. Getting us to a IRC server that we chose. We reviewed your last 3 updates for months and no change because the same problem exists. We appreciate that X-chat is free but what good is it if it does not work? Maybe you are just wasting your time which is a sin to do. Why don't you go to a new project and create an irc chat program for the visually impaired.

X-Chat Aqua Troubleshooting ReportNeeds a go-to-this-room-at-startup option - Version: 0.14.0, 6/29/2005 05:16PM PST

Also, there's a crash issue: If you start up X-Chat Aqua and type in #Room for some server in the Join Channels field of the Server List for some server and have X-Chat connect to that room and server at start-up, then X-Chat crashes. Remove the #, and X-Chat will connect to the server but can't get to the room, even though it's typed correctly. This was the case for 0.13.0 as well.

... by far X-Chat Aqua is the most solid irc client for OS X, though the user interface looks clunky and non-aqua
