Product Description:

Synergy is a tiny Cocoa application for Mac OS X 10.2 (and later) that puts three buttons to control iTunes in your menubar: previous track, next track, and play/pause; as well as providing you with visual feedback about the currently playing tune. Synergy can display the cover of the currently playing album. The Synergy controls, together with the ability to control iTunes via system-wide Hot Key combinations, mean that Synergy provides the fastest way of skipping between songs when using the keyboard or the mouse; all this without having to switch to iTunes, or access its Dock menu. Synergy is only $5 (USD).

Synergy won't take up precious space in your Dock as it appears only in the menubar. It provides you with ultimate control over iTunes even while you're working in other applications. The Synergy global menu provides you with quick access to recently played tracks and playlists, and the floater displays album covers (automatically downloaded by Synergy, or embedded in the tracks by iTunes) and provides information whenever a new track starts playing.

An online tour is available to take you through Synergy's features.

What's new in this version:

  • [Note] This is a limited release beta seed; the previous version (1.0a8) remains the current officially supported release, and remains available for download from http://wincent.com/download.php?item=Synergy.dmg. The beta is being seeded to those interested in trying out the reinstated automatic cover download support. Before trying this seed you should read the forum thread at http://forums.wincent.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Number=130 to be aware of the background to this release. [Note] Reinstates Amazon automatic cover download support. This release uses much more caching and queries the Amazon server less aggressively. This represents a trade-off because it means that album covers may take slightly longer to download than in previous releases, and the additional caching causes Synergy to use more memory; but conversely, the reduced load on the Amazon server means that Amazon is less likely to block access again in the future.

I've purchased Synergy with 'free updates for a lifetime!' (your terms) long time ago. I don't see why I should pay for a version with no new features. 3.4 and 3.5 never worked flawlessly and now I have to pay for 4.0? No thanks. Good bye, I switch to Tune•Instructor (it's FREEE). A disappointed customer

The description says it is for 10.5 and later. The program will in actuality require 10.6 or later. Please fix this.

Pretty uncool move sneaking this in as a paid upgrade and uninstalling the older version.
