I've purchased Synergy with 'free updates for a lifetime!' (your terms) long time ago. I don't see why I should pay for a version with no new features. 3.4 and 3.5 never worked flawlessly and now I have to pay for 4.0? No thanks. Good bye, I switch to Tune•Instructor (it's FREEE). A disappointed customer

The description says it is for 10.5 and later. The program will in actuality require 10.6 or later. Please fix this.

Pretty uncool move sneaking this in as a paid upgrade and uninstalling the older version.

Ok. I was using Synergy for 4 years now but I don't see for what I have to pay now anew using SnowLeopard... The new version of Synergy uninstalled the previous PrefPane and told me then that I have to pay for the upgrade. Thanks for uninstalling, but I'm not going to pay again for a software which had not added anything different to the prior version.

Synergy CommentaryWhy upgrade? - Version: 4.0.1b, 9/5/2009 07:16AM PST

I have owned Synergy for a long time but now, in order to continue with Synergy 4.0 and beyond, I must "upgrade" for about $10. Don't get me wrong: I do not mind upgrading but I do not really see what merits the 4.0 besides a total programming code rewrite from which I cannot differentiate from 3.5. Thus I feel like the old version 3.5 is sufficient. Even with the rewrite for 4.0, in Activity Monitor Synergy is still a 32 bit intel app. So what am I really paying for in the upgrade?

Synergy ReviewAlso got burned by Synergy Advance ... - Version: 3.5.4a, 8/18/2009 08:16AM PST

Like the user below, I also bought Synergy Advance in beta a few years ago. All development was abandoned. The classic Synergy (the one listed here) was something of a memory hog. I've been much happier using a freeware called SizzlingKeys which works beautifully. All the functions you'll ever need for free. Many extra functions for only $5

Synergy CommentarySimpler is better with Growl and ByteController - Version: 3.5.4a, 8/18/2009 06:46AM PST

Not only is there an OS release close enough to smell, but there's really no reason whatsoever to pay for anything in beta. Seriously.

There is also no reason to pay for something like this when there is a free alternative that is simpler and better...out of beta. I use ByteController and Growl. ByteController puts a nice button interface in the menu bar. Sure it is just that but for some like me, that's enough.

Growl, also free, provides a nice pop-up interface with album art for music. If you want to download artwork, there was a fresh release of Album Art on VT today. I haven't checked into it as I already have an iTunes account that ''does'' artwork downloading, but combine these three little gems together and you're set...with no need to pay to beta test.

Honestly, I'd either make Synergy free or let it die at the gates of Snow Leopard.

Synergy is the name of a well known program to share mouse and keyboard between different computers and/or operating systems: http://synergy2.sourceforge.net/

Calling this program Synergy as well will just cause confusion.

Developer sold “upgrades” from synergy to Synergy Advance but NEVER finished the product. Would not trust again with my money. Synergy is a great program but poor customer service kills it for me.
