XBase, to help build Online News, Web Magazine style website on Macintosh platform installed with Mac OS X Server. XBase is the WebObjects-based solution that offers various functions from unlimited category system, reporter mode and administrator mode to manage news articles, online forum, advertising management system, poll system to user management system. And web interface makes it easier to do management. Small to medium corporations, education institutions can now build information portal site to provide large amount of accumulated data and information accurately and promptly through web. first four reviews are obviously fake. Anyway, $499 is absurd; there are dozens of free solutions out there using (for example) PHP and MySQL, both of which don't even require Mac OS X Server. I would urge you take a look on SourceForge for other solutions before buying this infinitely overpriced product.

($499 for this version, 1.0.1) for a product that has freeware counterparts out there. To name but one: MovableType (http://www.movabletype.org) is essentially a weblogger tool but can be used as a full-blown CMS. MT is based on Perl and can use either MySQL or BerkeleyDB. Runs equally well on MacOS X, MacOS X Server, Linux, Windows, UNIX -- like the Beatles once sang, "All you need is Perl". You can have it run multiple 'blogs', with multiple authors, unlimited categories, commenting system (which can be misused to be a guestbook, for instance), TrackBack, it sports the XML-RPC API and has a plugin feature. Excellent support through user-driven forum. Lively user community. And still a free lunch. Just thought you'd like to know.
