- Fully Automatic IT8-Calibration with Studio version: Added a new feature that improves the IT8 calibration. The IT8 target will be recognized automatically and performs all steps until reporting success.
- Scan frame: Look of scan frame changed. Instead of cross-hairs for rotating half-arcs can be used now. Also active frame is blinking in order to be noticed easier.
- BUGFIX: IT8 calibration: Corrected routines in IT8 calibration which formerly lead to trouble if the target had been placed mirrored on or into the scanner.
- iSRD: Improved prevention of possible artifacts occuring with use of iSRD with too high setting values.
- IMPROVEMENT: General: Changed the way the scan frames are shown in preview.
- Multi-Exposure: Improved reliability when aligning the scans.
- General: Photoshop (or other apps using the SilverFast Photoshop plug-in version, incl. the SF_Launcher) could crash after a batch scan - fixed.

OS X 10.5 missing in Purchase Options? - Version: 6.5.5r4, 2/20/2008 12:00AM PST

Well, in considering buying this (although I will try it first), I'm noticing that the OS dropdown selection stops at OS X 10.4. While the upfront information confirms that Silverfast is designed to work with 10.5, it always bothers me when the "order/purchase" pages don't agree with the "specs", but yet are specific about what OS version the software you are purchasing supports. Anyway, it has given me pause as I consider what software to use with my 9950F.

I installed the trial version. It installs, fine but sees no scanner. I tried the USB and then the firewire but SF still doesn't find any scanner. Now I've noticed that there is no way to uninstall it. This is a sign of truly poor programming! I guess they are too cheap to write a script and use an installer with the uninstall option. It figures. I'm going back to VueScan which works or at least it did until I installed this software.
