info.xhead Usage Tipdeveloper is too slow to make a version that works with snow leo - Version: 2.0.0 Beta, 11/30/2009 02:48PM PST

macuser2012
I bought "wallet". It has been working well in snow leopard and is similar to info.xhead. hopefully the makers of wallet will stay "on top of it" unlike xhead software. xhead communication is pathetic. I hope they lose massive amounts of business. Maybe they will learn a valuable business lesson. That lesson being... get off your a** and get the program updated so it is usable for those of us with 10.6. Try wallet. bye bye xhead.

info.xhead CommentaryApparently I'll have to switch - Version: 2.0.0 Beta, 11/23/2009 01:11PM PST

Although I've used info.xhead for several years, it becomes increasingly apparent that the developer is unable to keep up with the program. It doesn't work with Snow Leopard and the beta is read-only. That pretty much makes it useless now, and despite several e-mails over at least a month and a half about the status, the developer's vow to have the new version out in "a week or two" are clearly a pipe dream. Meanwhile, I'm back to scraps of paper all over my desk with new entries and nowhere to put them. I held off trying Wallet or another competitor because of the hassle of shifting some 200+ entries, but I'm obviously not going to have a choice, and at least they seem reliable.

info.xhead ReviewNo real product support for this now useless program - Version: 2.0.0 Beta, 11/18/2009 07:24AM PST

I used this program before Snow Leopard and was quite happy with it. But for some reason it broke under Snow Leopard and the developer is either unable or not very interested in providing a version that works. Don't be fooled by the note about a Beta being available. The beta provides read only access. Which means you are stuck either storing stuff in plain text or switching to another program.Worse yet the developer is either misleading us about the arrival of an update or is unable to meet his own stated schedule for completing it. Even if an update comes out you won't be able to trust it won't break again and then be stuck waiting months, or even indefinitely, for a fix.

info.xhead Reviewneeds to be updated - Version: 2.0.0 Beta, 11/12/2009 07:08PM PST

great product but xhead software is not on top of it. They do not have a version that is compatible with snow leopard 10.6. Apple released snow leopard in august 2009. It is now November 12, 2009 and still no info.xhead program compatible with snow leopard. At this point their beta version of info.xhead is limited functionality. I am not happy with xhead. they keep telling me it will be out next week but "next week" comes and, comes again and still no compatible version. They are much too slow. I think they are abandoning the program. I am going to switch to another program.

info.xhead ReviewProblems with forgetting password - Version: 2.0.0 Beta, 9/6/2009 11:45AM PST

I have used this program for about 2 years. It is great and very handy to have in the dock. In upgrading to the beta for Snow Leopard, I had forgotten my password and couldn't open the program. The service reps and I sent each other 3 - 4 emails and they made one telephone call to my residence. The problem was corrected within one day. I have nothing but the highest praise for their prompt service and product.

Having used Macs for over 20 years, just occasionally you come across a program that just makes your life SO much easier: info.xhead!

Just like the other reviewer here, I use this program for all my passwords/user details and more: bank accounts; email; software etc. etc. Plus notes about each website and function etc.

I have over 120 entries - and it now contains my whole life!

Well done - well worth every penny.

info.xhead ReviewMore Than Just Passwords - Version: 1.4, 12/31/2008 02:08PM PST

I have used info.xhead for over a year and I am very happy with it. There are few apps that let you create any number of custom fields for any number of custom categories. info.xhead is really a mini-database. It's not just for passwords; I use it for everything. Just to name few:

  • Web Site Passwords
  • Software Serial Numbers
  • Credit Cards
  • Computer Hardware
  • Network/ISP Info
  • Prescriptions
  • Quotations
  • Database Passwords
  • Insurance
  • Personal Identification
  • Vehicles
  • Bank Accounts
  • And more . . .

This app stays open most of the time. 1Password is nice for what it does, but can it store an arbitrary number of custom fields for any of the items listed above? info.xhead lets you store all of your data in one place.

I'm especially looking forward to the iPhone syncing coming in Q1 2009.

Great app!

info.xhead ReviewInfoxhead version 1.4 - Version: 1.4, 12/5/2008 11:12PM PST

I have been using this product for several years and find it extremely useful for storing passwords and other secure information. I also use 1password but wouldn't be without infoxhead because it has saved me on numerous occasions where 1password didn't function properly due to a changed web page format etc. The support team is excellent - I usually get a reply within a few minutes on any issue (the only issue I have had is problems trying to reinstall the software onto a new computer or after I reformat the hard drive). They used to have a policy where passwords expired after a time which was a real pain in the ... They have changed this policy now and the passwords do not expire. I highly recommend this product to keep sensitive information secure.

info.xhead ReviewBest password application for OS X - Version: 1.4, 10/25/2008 08:31PM PST

I've been designing/developing websites for over a decade. Consequently I need to store all kinds of passwords for FTP, CMS and blog accounts, plus databases and the lot. Over the years I've tried a good deal of solutions for managing passwords and info.xhead is by far the best, bar none.

info.xhead Reviewgreat product, great support - Version: 1.4, 10/17/2008 07:53AM PST

Have used this software for 3+ years now. Works great and almost never any issues.

Feels good to have this very important info in one place, easily retrievable and password protected.

I have fully customized each category to my specific needs, and can edit and move things around or merge them with other categories almost at will. I even use it to keep track of my serial numbers for software.

Backups too are easy to make and reload in case problems arise.

Finally, when I have had the occasional problem or issue, tech support has responded to me almost instantly via email.. This company does not offer phone support, which I generally shy away from, but again email support has been an almost instant thing with dead on advice to solve the issue.

This is the password tracking software to use, it's a no brainer.
