Recent Tunes CommentaryI think development has stopped - Version: 2.0, 7/19/2006 06:27AM PST

I've tried contacting two people associated with this product (which I've used in the past, pre-Tiger) and I can't get an answer out of anyone about the status of a Tiger compatible version. One of the gentlemen even wrote that the Tiger problem has been isolated. I thought this was a great little app, but it looks like it hit the wall.

I'd recommend this to peopl running systems earlier than 10.4.

Recent Tunes Usage TipLove it - Version: 2.0, 2/7/2006 07:59PM PST

I use the HTTP GET feature and it works great, but It does make much sense for the program to upload data everytime I pause the song and restart it. Maybe this could be remedied if the program used the same system that iTunes used for tracking recently played songs and wait until the song has played through.

Also, is there any way to grab variables and make sure songs or artist names with "&" (ampersand) don't get cut up? Is this something that happens from the program sending it, or when I am receiving the data?

  1. Quit Recent Tunes from the menu bar
  2. Open up Apples “Property List Editor.” (you must have Apples Developers Tools installed - Link for more info)
  3. In Property List Editor open up the Recent Tunes pref file, com.freshsqueeze.recenttunes.plist , located in your home pref folder.
  4. once open, look for “RT2.0SongList”. This is an Array. Click the drop down triang;e to expand this array and notice the “Dictionary” entries which are listed as 0,1,2,3 … etc
  5. DELETE all of these “dictionary” sub-elements.
  6. Quit Property List Editor and Re-Launch Recent Tunes Start Pumping some iTune’s and hopefully you’re good to go!

Note:

This has worked for me now numerous times no for me, so hope fully it will for others. I’ve also noted in my experimenting that the failure of Recent Tunes seems to occur after the App itself has been Quit. I;ve Also noted that the here forementioned preference file is only written to (ie new tracks written to file) after Recent Tunes quiting…

It's great if I can get it listing the songs again. I downloaded it. Use it. It listed several songs. I turned it off...and on again...it's not recording anymore.

Using tiger. Or is this not Tiger compatble?

works wonderfully except for 2 things:

1. username was freaking out on my because i had an @ symbol in it. i finally figured i could use the escape symbol instead: %40
2. i can't seem to get the recent tunes list to go past 25. i would love a long history, but i have no luck. :-/

otherwise, i love this thing! i have mine displayed here

am planning to add the ability to have the currently playing song listed in the menu item's title for the next release dpuett - The next release will let you have a list of "favorites" that will always be in the menu and I'm also adding the ability to have selected playlists displayed in the menu, so if you have a most played songs list you can add it to the menu and you'll have easy access to those songs Jerry Kindall - I haven't had that issue myself and I don't know of anyone else who has, but if you send me an email we can try to figure out what's going on. Finally, as iacas said, 10.1.5 does not have the AppleScript functionality I need for this program to work, sorry.

suggestion. Any way to have 2 lists? The current recent list and a list of the most played songs? The user could could select how many to show in each list like it does now.
