Product Description:

Finally, you can chat with folks thousands of miles away in a full-screen personal video conference over any broadband connection. Thanks to the advanced graphics built into Mac OS X, they’ll truly look like themselves, instead of strangers made of children’s building blocks. And if you use a wide aspect ratio screen, iChat AV uses patented anamorphic resizing techniques so that the video of the person you're chatting with fills the entire screen without distortion. iChat AV also lets you size your video window to whatever size suits your style — from the large default of 352 x 288 pixels to full screen. In fact, iChat AV is so advanced, you can even resize a window during the middle of a conference, as it effortlessly adjusts images on the fly without affecting video and audio quality.

What's new in this version:

  • Two-way high quality video and full duplex audio
  • Full-screen video
  • Resizable video window, large default size of 352 X 288
  • Crystal clear full duplex audio-only conferencing
  • Familiar, easy-to-use interface
  • Zero configuration with support for FireWire cameras
  • ISP and router friendly
  • Personal buddy icon manager with video snapshots

Apple iChat AV ReviewBeach Ball - Version: 3.1.8, 1/6/2007 06:34PM PST

Installed via Software Update. MacBook Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 Ghz, 2 GB Ram got repeated beach balls when attempting to use iChat, iMail and System Preferences involving network connections.

Deleated all iChat files and reinstalled 3.1.5 (v440). Now everythings back to normal.

I updated using "Software Update" without any problem. Software Update makes you reboot after the download, no prob for me. iChat works fine after restart. G4 running 10.4.8.
