Sometimes file flags get set incorrectly, preventing files and/or folders from being deleted. This happened to my friend when she copied files from Windows. This script fixes the flags without requiring you to use the Terminal.

Stubborn File Remover Review  An easy… - Version: 1.0, 11/3/2002 05:26PM PST

RODIN IS ALIVE
way to remove files that will not delete on OSX is my method which I figured out after frustratingly trying to dump a file from which I got the message that it is in use ...I use stuffit and in the preferences I ask that the original be deleted...IT DOES IT! I then dump the sit file as well and that is that...try it and tell me if you have the same luck as I... Do not ask me why Stuffit does the trick in the delete preferences but it did it for me every time I tried it. It is a mystery...As we say, computers are organic and they have their own mysteries.  [delete]

Stubborn File Remover ReviewTerrific concept, but… - Version: 1.0, 11/3/2002 12:43PM PST

far too specialized; needs to be more robust, deleting _any_ file. I have 2 kinds of "stubborn files" on my drives, and neither were deleted by this program: a tinkertool.gz that is always "in use by another task" even after reboting, and leftover (from a deleted system) system aliases (var, tmp, etc) that give "an error occured: 1...operation not permitted) on deletion. I'm sure these are different blocks to deletion than this program is supposed to fix, but for a stubborn file remover to be useful, it should delete any file. How does Suzy Classic know what's keeping her files from deleting? Also, the program clearly should have drag and drop support. This is a mac program, mr. schreiber, and drag and drop is far simpler and easier than navigating through file menus.

removing "stubborn" files on an external storage device; had no success before using SFR, no problems after using it. Could only delete one file at a time, though. MicPitt
