... You can tell iCal to run scripts, adn trhey will run even if iCal is not running, so paying $24 for an app that will do the same thing that iCal will do for free seems somewhat excessive, unless I am missing something here?

trying to download this is an exercise in frustration. link here is bad, link on dev's website is bad. bummer.

based on this recommendation. While the concept is good, Youpi has many bugs, one of which is that it refuses to execute many AppleScripts. It also continues to try to execute them even after you have deleted them from the list. iDo may not be so powerful, but it works reliably.
