I'd like to say thanks to everyone for your comments!
I've noticed a lot of people saying Coffee Break Pro is too pricey. Unfortunately, it is a niche product (ie, has a limited audience), and thus must cost a little more. For years I charged only $5-$6, and that didn't even pay for the development tools. I would eventually have had to drop it at that price. Priced at $20, it has been significantly more successful.
Also, I like the comment about the horrible graphics! I, too, feel that the program has outgrown the screen saver graphics that have been with it since 1994. I plan to do something about this at some point in the future. If anyone wants to submit graphics, let me know via the support form on the BitJuggler website.

Love/Hate Relationship - Version: 2.2b2, 7/1/2003 07:09PM PST

I've developed a love-hate relationship with CoffeeBreak Pro, mostly because it does what it says it'll do: Lock up your machine and FORCE you to take breaks. I'm prone to arm, shoulder and neck aches from too much computing, yet I don't seem able to walk away from my machine when I'm fully involved in something unless I'm forced to. CoffeeBreak Pro is that force. It probably should be a little cheaper, and it definitely needs improvement on the screen-break graphics. On the overall, though, it's a good purchase for those who need more than a gentle reminder to take a break.
too pricey but a nice little app - Version: 2.2b1, 6/29/2003 05:42AM PST

I agree with the GraphicConverter analogy. But then, I think GC is worth 10x the amount charged.
Once thing I don't like about CBP is the lousy graphics. So I made my own. Perhaps I'll submit them to the developer and suggest a bit of an improvement in this area. Other than that, it does exactly what I expect it to.

I have been using version 2.1.2, and its dramatic blanking of the screen when it is time for a break is the type of kick in the pants I really need to get away from the keyboard and rest. It works well.
I have 3 problems with the OS X version, though: $20 is too expensive, very little programming goes into a timer, compared with a shareware product like graphic converter that is a work of staggering proportion; it doesn't recognize breaks taken while the computer's asleep; and it sucks up 1 to 3 percent of my Power Mac G4 dual processor, which seems excessive for a timer. We'll see if these are fixed in a subsequent version. Also, the graphics on the screen saver could be a little more professionally polished.

outstanding. The guys who complain are obviously not the target market. This is perfect, and well worth it's $20 price tag. I have used a lot of these kinds of things (being a coder by trade) and this is by far the best I have seen yet.

in a different universe from those of us who need a firm but not annoying reminder to get away from our computers. I compared this with 4 other break programs and picked this one. Yes, I wish it cost a bit less, but the price is worth it to me.
Running: Tiger 10.4.1; PowerBook Alu.
