Kunvert ReviewProblem Purchasing, question Multi-Page PDF to JPG - Version: 1.5.1, 12/11/2007 05:16AM PST

AjMED
I was looking for an OSX app to be able to quickly convert single and multi-page PDF files into JPG files (one for each page). Strangely, this was a difficult thing to find, but I came across Kunvert fairly quickly. I downloaded/installed it and used it successfully to create a JPG file of the first page of multi-page PDFs. Evidently, the ability to create JPG files from each page of multi-page PDFs is locked until you purchase the Pro version ($5).

I clicked on the link to purchase the Pro version and it just takes me to a 'Fedora Core (Apache) Test Page'. Evidently the group responsible for handling the purchases is either doing maintenance, just setup their web server or is having other difficulties. I tried several times over a period of 2-3 days, but can not get through. I emailed the developer several times, but received no response. Unfortunately, I needed to go look for something else because I was running out of time.

After quite a bit of searching (who would think this type of app was this scarce?), I finally found PDFDek on limit-point.com. It comes in a 'Utilities' bundle with many other (some quite useful) apps for a donation ($10-25). It's not quite as full featured as Kunvert in terms of conversion settings, but it does work, including multi-page PDFs to several JPG files.

I think Kunvert could be a nice app, if the multi-page really works and they can sort out how to purchase it.

Kunvert CommentaryA make-shift way to convert pdf to jpg using Automator - Version: 1.5.1, 11/11/2007 09:13AM PST

There is a make-shift way to batch convert pdf pages into jpg files by using OSX's Automator. I created a workflow that converts a multipage pdf file into individual jpg files and saves them into a folder on the Desktop.
You can download the file at http://www.x-serve.org/download/pdf2jpg
