Kunvert ReviewProblem Purchasing, question Multi-Page PDF to JPG - Version: 1.5.1, 12/11/2007 05:16AM PST

AjMED
I was looking for an OSX app to be able to quickly convert single and multi-page PDF files into JPG files (one for each page). Strangely, this was a difficult thing to find, but I came across Kunvert fairly quickly. I downloaded/installed it and used it successfully to create a JPG file of the first page of multi-page PDFs. Evidently, the ability to create JPG files from each page of multi-page PDFs is locked until you purchase the Pro version ($5).

I clicked on the link to purchase the Pro version and it just takes me to a 'Fedora Core (Apache) Test Page'. Evidently the group responsible for handling the purchases is either doing maintenance, just setup their web server or is having other difficulties. I tried several times over a period of 2-3 days, but can not get through. I emailed the developer several times, but received no response. Unfortunately, I needed to go look for something else because I was running out of time.

After quite a bit of searching (who would think this type of app was this scarce?), I finally found PDFDek on limit-point.com. It comes in a 'Utilities' bundle with many other (some quite useful) apps for a donation ($10-25). It's not quite as full featured as Kunvert in terms of conversion settings, but it does work, including multi-page PDFs to several JPG files.

I think Kunvert could be a nice app, if the multi-page really works and they can sort out how to purchase it.

Kunvert CommentaryA make-shift way to convert pdf to jpg using Automator - Version: 1.5.1, 11/11/2007 09:13AM PST

There is a make-shift way to batch convert pdf pages into jpg files by using OSX's Automator. I created a workflow that converts a multipage pdf file into individual jpg files and saves them into a folder on the Desktop.
You can download the file at http://www.x-serve.org/download/pdf2jpg

Kunvert ReviewAlmost good - Version: 1.5.1, 3/23/2006 11:51PM PST

It does indeed allow you to set the scale before the conversion to JPG from PDF. I tried a PDF newsletter at 150%. I regret to say that the text quality is terrible. Almost unreadable. It appears to me as if the PDF->JPG conversion is done first, then the scaling. Should be the other way around. Photos are ok. Also, No matter what I try, it only converts the 1st page of a PDF, even though it says it will convert page 2 or 3... I was really hoping this was going to be a good & usable software. :-| At least it's very easy to use, so you can quickly tell if it suits your needs or not. It didn't work out for me.

Kunvert ReviewExcellent but not for Japanese... - Version: 1.5.1, 5/28/2004 05:49PM PST

Aspartame&MSGsuck!
Control Clicking to convert a PDF to a JPG is so convenient with Kunvert. It can’t get easier!! However, I sometimes have to work with a Japanese system and unfortunately Kunvert is not able to keep the name intact after converting... Japanese names just end up a bunch of unreadable characters. I hope that this problem can be overcome with a future upgrade...

if you convert a single pdf all goes well; if you convert another pdf later the previously converted pdf gets written over and does not - as would be the normal case with a mac - get numbered. so you lose the previously converted document. work around: don't automatically delete the pdfs! just in case you forgot to rename!
otherwise a great little app!
