Very bad support

I've been in contact with the developer for a long time. They promised upgrades to solve bugs and localization problems. Nothing comes and now they don't even acknowledge mails any longer. It is really impossible to recommend a product which is quite good in itself but too dangerous to use without beign sure about the quality of support. I'm afraid this type of behaviour is the best sales pitch for Microsoft.
Buggy, need upgrade - Version: 1.6.0, 5/3/2005 11:30AM PST

Well I enjoy it but it has a few bugs and moreover the developper didn't upgrade it since more than a year. He spent more time with MenuCalendarClock... probably more profitable!
Now, with Tiger, there are even more bugs (that's I insert an address and it prints with another). I'm looking forward to see an update coming out. Specially now tht all my letters are in Letter Star proprietary format. And this soft is nothing but cheap!

This prgram urgently needs an upgrade. Handling of windows, maximizining, zooming, page viewing, all that is far behind state of the art. The programers know that, but there is nothing coming. I have used Letter Star since day one, and the UI is still more MS windows than Mac like. Will switch to Mellem, Marine Writer or the new Nisus writer if there is no change. Just not fun to work with this way.
cool but......

It's nice but chill on the price. Don't get ahead of yourself guys.

The idea, and the functionality, are top notch -- do one thing, and do it well. But the interface is sorely lacking. It feels like a hold over from OS 9 in many ways.
Applications such as Mellel (which can't hold a candle to LetterWorks Template mechanism) have done an excellent job of putting a new coat of paint on a standard interface concept. I wish all applications looked as good as Mellel. Letterworks needs that same sort of makeover. I know that an interface hardly seem important when you're talking about the power behind it, however, since I'll be staring at this interface most of the business day, I would much prefer it look a little more welcoming. Slicker. Polished.
I also feel the price is about $5-$10 to high.
These things aside, I plan on watching this application's evolution very closely. And if my problems are addressed, I'll be a buyer for sure!

This is basically TextEdit with a few extra features added. Wy not just buy Z-Write, Mellel, or Nisus Writer X and create templates? If you already have a full-featured word processor, it has come stock with letter writing tools superior to anything this offers.

was insanely great, but it's tepid at best. The problem is that it is handles page layout so poorly, making it difficult to set up stationary that one can actually feel proud to use. Hopefully it will improve over time, as the idea is a really good one.

the way it has come out of beta but I'll say it again; it really needs the ability to merge letters with an *entire* address group at once, it should also have the ability print envelopes for the letter automatically. Without these two features it's not quite worth the $30 the author is asking.

Yeah, sure.
